「恋のダウン・タウン」（このCDで「ダウンタウン六本木」、となっている８と同曲）を最後にコロムビアからソニーへ移籍した平山三紀は、その在籍中に「熟れた果実」「愛の戯れ」「真夜中のエンジェル・ベイビー」「やさしい都会」と、より一層の充実ぶりをみせたシングル４枚８曲（うち、ここに収録のＢ面曲は、12、13の２曲）、アルバム『熟れた果実／荒野のならず者』で初出のオリジナル４曲（うち、ここには９から11の３曲を収録）および外国曲カヴァー６曲（うち３曲がここに…）、そしてベスト盤のために筒美京平氏自身が新たにアレンジを施し、レコーディングされたコロムビア時代のヒット曲４曲の新録音版（１から３と８）、さらに、オムニバス盤『筒美京平メモリアル・アルバム／ひとふし』に収録のカヴァー「ブルー・ライト・ヨコハマ」（ここには未収録）、といった音源を残したのだったが……、このアルバムは、これまで発売されてきたベストものと、さほど大差のない選曲／構成。もうちょっと加えるだけで（洋楽曲を別に考えても）、コロムビアから出ているアルバムと同様のコンプリート盤になったことを考えると、実に残念な気がするアルバムだ。もちろん個々の楽曲の完成度に関しては申し分のないものであり、何はともあれ聴いてみたい、という方に対しては、☆５つのグレードを持つものとして、おすすめしておきたい１枚である。
