　福岡県出身で、高校卒業後に某コンテストでジョーン・バエズの「シルキー」を歌って優勝しCBSソニーにスカウトされ1970年に「秋でもないのに」でデビュー、「一人の小さな手」で1971年の第22回紅白に、「耳をすましてごらん」で1972年の第23回紅白に出場したという歌手です。1975年に「手紙」を最後に結婚・引退し、渡米していたようです。とにかくシンプルなアコースティック・サウンドに乗っかった高く澄み美しい説得力のある歌声が魅力です。声や歌詞の内容を聴いて「この人は善人に違いない」と思ってましたが、ホントにクリスチャンらしく、現在は国内のキリスト教会などで歌っているとのことです。個人的には、子供の頃に通っていた幼稚園でフォーク好きの園長先生に教わった曲がたくさん入っていて、ホントに懐かしく楽しく聴きました。

　透明感のある歌声を２３曲も聞けてしまう、お買得ＣＤ。泉谷の「春夏秋冬」も、彼女が唱うと、さわやかな詩になってしまう。彼女の作詩である「手紙」を、初めて彼女の詩に触れる人には、味わって欲しいと思う。曲は財津和夫が書いている。最後に納められている「私の人生」で、自身を財津の詩に重ねる。「今日の日はさようなら」は、当時の学生の定番だ。

先日、ラジオ深夜便で「耳をすましてごらん」が流れた。
あまりの懐かしさと彼女の声の美しさで涙が溢れそうになった。
で、早速CDの購入となったわけ。
私が小学生の低学年の頃、リアルタイムで彼女をテレビで見ていた。
私の幼い耳でも、彼女の歌声は頭抜けて美しかった。
これだけの透明な美しい声の持ち主はそうそういるものではない。
日本ではもちろん、世界でも稀有の存在ではないか。
私にとって、本田路津子＝耳をすましてごらん、だが
他の楽曲も素晴らしい。
彼女の歌声を聞くと、幸福感でいっぱいになる。
