早川義夫の復帰後3作目のアルバム。前作から2年ぶりの本作は、シングルとして発売された桑田佳祐の曲(11)を除いて、早川義夫とそうる透、そしてプロデュースを担当している佐久間正英の3人で作り上げられている。
これまでの作品と同様に、過去の曲の再演も含まれているのだが、作品を重ねるごとにジャックスの曲がどんどんリアルになってきているのに驚かされる。たとえば「からっぽの世界」の持つリアリティは、ジャックス伝説を知らない世代にも理解できるはずのものだ。明らかに現在の日本のロック・シーンにはない音楽だ。と同時に、明らかに日本でしか生まれ得ないロックが、このアルバムには詰まっている。おそらく、これからの人生を歌いつづけていくことに決めたのであろう早川義夫は、60年代の熱気を保ったまま、2001年に向かって“いまの歌”を歌おうとしているように思える。早川義夫の歌を知っている人も、知らない人も、とにかく聴くべき1枚。 (鈴木祐) --- 1997年12月号

特に埋葬〜からっぽの世界の流れは言葉がありません。
最後の桑田作品はまあボーナストラック扱いですね。
本編はその前の恥ずかしい僕の人生で終わっています。
桑田作品のアメンボの歌はサザンのエロティカセブンの
流を組んだ作品だと思います。
それでもこの曲の空気からするとサザンではなく
ソロの孤独の太陽に収録されていても決しておかしくない
そんな一曲です。桑田の他人への提供曲では第一級
上田正樹さんへのあの曲と（全く作風が違うが）と並びますね
内容が本作の評価から外れましたが他のカスタマーの方の意見が
また素晴らしすぎて････
ガンガン聴いて早く飽きることの無いアルバムです

様々な意見があると思いますが、僕はこのアルバムに、
「早川義夫という規格外のボーカリストが、
窮屈なバンドサウンドに閉じ込められている」という
印象を持ちました。

その反面、彼の作品の中では比較的聴きやすく、
とっつきやすいというメリットもあるでしょう。
桑田氏の曲提供といい、この時期には
「早川義夫をもっとメジャーに」という周囲の
思惑があったのかもしれません。
