ミュージックスター数あれど、ボクにとってのスターは誰あろう筒美京平先生だ。もうここに収録されてる曲を聞いていただければ説明は一切不要でしょう。彼は昭和・平成の歌謡曲を作った男と言っても過言ではありません。商業音楽と毛嫌いする人も中にはおられるが、昨今の「自分で作詞作曲しました」とか言って道ばたでギターかきならす輩の楽曲とのクオリティーを比べるのは愚問と言うものだ。少々お値段が高いですが、是非Vol.1と合わせてご購入することを強くお勧めします。何といってもこの珠玉のメロディー達は日本の財産なのですから。

発売当時で音楽家生活30周年を迎えた、
4枚組ベストの2作目である。
1967~1997年の30年間のうち、
1978年以降の作品を収録している。
収録アーチストだけでも、
ジュディオング・岩崎宏美・少年隊・本田美奈子・ピチカートファイブなど、
多種多様なアーチストに渡っている。
筒美氏いわく「歌は、おかず（旋律のつなぎめのドラムやスネアなど）をおもしろくして、音の隙間をなくすのが曲をよくするコツ」のようなことを、話されている。
私も、しごく同感で、
ちょっとした音の配置の違いで、
曲の印象が全然違って聴こえるのを、
少なからず認識した私は、
偉大な氏の言葉を、手放しに喜んだ。
筒美氏がかつて行っていた「アレンジャー」としての仕事は、現在見受けられないが、
このCDは、華々しかった氏のアレンジの華麗な仕事を、たくさん感じることができる、
素敵なCD。解説書も非常に良い。
