ジャパニーズ・ガールズロックバンドの第一人者、
プリンセスプリンセス。
5人編成の彼女達は女性の立場としてメッセンジャーとなり、
また、ルックスでも魅力溢れる存在として
86年のデビュー以来、常にティーンエイジの心を掴み通してきた。
CM曲に使われたり、TVドラマの主題歌にも使われたりと、
知ってる曲も多いだろう。
先に申し上げたように、彼女達の歌詞センスというのは、
ストレートで感情移入しやすく代表曲の珠玉の名バラード
「M」「ジュリアン」などは、女性ならかなり
グッと来るものがあると思うし
かと思えば「DIAMONDS」「19 GROWING UP 」
「GO AWAY BOY 」「DING DONG」などのロックポップ系
なんかはイントロからガツンと来るし、バラエティでありながら、
要所を押さえるところはさすがである。
このアルバムはベスト盤なのだが、これまでに、
いくつかベスト盤を発売しており、どれも似たり寄ったりではあるが
何かしら肝心な曲が無かったりと、イマイチなとこが見受けられる。
私がこのアルバムを選んだのは、割りとノリの良い曲
がたっぷり収録されていると、タテノリの方が
私的に、このバンドらしくて良いかなぁと思ったので、
これを採用させてもらった。
オリジナルアルバムとしては「PRINCESS　PRINCESS（’90）」
がバンド自体の絶頂期だったのでは？と思うので
これをお薦めする。

ポップスやロックで人気が出るためには、1曲がよい2ボーカルに魅力がある3リズムがしっかりしていて演奏がよい4メンバーのキャラクターに個性がある、といった必要条件がありますが、こうやって聴くとプリプリも1ー4をすべて充たしており、人気グループだったのも納得。個人的には、数曲しか知らなかったが、このベスト盤はお薦め。1はともかく、奥居さんのボーカルは個性的で、上手いし、富田さんと渡辺さんのリズム隊も、タイトでパワフルでドライブ感抜群、そしてメンバー皆さん美人、と言うことありません。「Ｍ］，「ダイアモンド」「世界でいちばん暑い夏」の３曲が僕のプリプリベスト３ですが（順位なし）、その順番で収録されているのも嬉しい。マルです。

私的に、近年同じアーティストのアルバムしか出回らないCD事情に「買っても意味がない。同じアーティストばかりでつまらない」本音がきっかけで手に取ってみたプリプリでしたが、久しぶりに聞くと、リアルタイムで聞いていた当時のままの気持ちが甦ります。自分も、自分の周りも「いい曲だ！」と絶賛し、皆が大事にテープに録音していた「ダイアモンド」。避暑地先の有線や夏休みの最中に自宅のラジオで聞いていた「世界で一番暑い夏」。野島ドラマ第１作「君が嘘をついた」主題歌の「Get crazy！」。
「M」や「KISS」など、カラオケでも愛されている曲が一堂に会した豪華版。
聞いた瞬間に「うおお！」と浸れること間違いナシの一枚です！
