アートワークからも楽曲からも、どこかしら不気味な匂いが発せられている中で、シングル曲で表題曲の「ヒゲとボイン」だけ少し浮いている。
そして、この曲がこのアルバムのラスト曲なのですが、これはきっとボーナストラック的な意味合いでしょう。
つまり、真の大トリはその前の曲、「車も電話もないけれど」だと推測。
だってこの曲、感動的な程に素晴らしいですから。

5.0 out of 5 stars ２００９年から見た『1991年宇宙の旅〜ユニコーン危機一髪〜』について, 2009/3/27
最近再結成したユニコーンの、これは91年作の5枚目のフルアルバム。このアルバムの後、ユニコーンの活動は停滞し、解散に向かう。そういう流れを考えて聴くと、非常にシリアスな意味合いを持った作品となる。そうでなくともやたら内容が重たい曲が多いのに。

このアルバムにまつわるイメージとして、当時からずっと「地味」「重い」「暗い」とあちこちで散々囁かれている。少年性やアメリカコンプ、爛れゆく生活、そして激しい躁鬱といったテーマが幾重にも折り重なり、更にこれまでのパロディ的な演奏から踏み込んで、アーティスティックな深みを目指した録音（河口湖畔で野外録音したらしい。あちこちでそんな音が入っている）など、様々な要素が深みに向かい、それが人によっては「自家薬籠的」という印象さえ抱いてしまう作り込みを引き起こした。

しかし随所に見るマニアックなアイディアの挿入や、以前以上にセンチメンタルで自嘲的で乾いた詩情など、見るべきところは非常に多い。エンターテイメントなユニコーンとしてみるよりも、芸術性におけるユニコーンの頂点として評価した方が良いと思う。特に、このアルバムでは奥田と阿部のアーティストとしての才能が拮抗し、名曲を連発している。やっぱりこの二人あってのユニコーンって感じがする。奥田は自身の曲と他人の曲を合わせて、キャリアでも最も様々な曲調や歌い方を試している。

また、トリビュートでのこのアルバムからの多くの選曲や、新旧ベストでのこのアルバムからの収録曲の増加など、元々ファン人気は高かったらしいこのアルバムが、最近では純粋に名盤として再評価されているような気がして、なんか嬉しい。再結成によってユニコーンがまた騒がれ出した今、まさに更なる再評価をなされるべき大傑作である。
本当に、あんな時代によくこんな怪作作り上げたなあと。

奥田、阿部、双方のキャリア中でも最高級の名曲M4とM14をはじめ、単純に名曲連発。彼等が最もビートルズに近づけた一枚。全体の乾き具合とか計算ずくですよね。

全曲が良い、というか面白い。笑える。「立秋」はプログレ的展開を繰り広げた挙句、途中で何故かサンバになる。でもコミックバンドっぽくないのが不思議です。
個人的に一番好きな箇所が、「車も電話もないけれど」の間奏で聴こえてくる大砲の音。逃げ回る人々が頭に浮かびます。幕末の混乱状態ってあんなのだったんですかね。
