「愛する人へ」「幸福の場所」の頃の谷村有美が気に入っていた私にとっては、このアルバムは「失敗作」と思えます。「愛は元気です」「Docile」で徐々に育ててきて「幸福の場所」で完成の域に達した谷村有美独特の世界を、無理やり自己否定して新境地を拓こうとして、それに失敗した、というのが、このアルバムに対する私の印象です。
作曲面でも、気に入らない点が多々あります。「圧倒的に片想い」は「信じるものに救われる」のサビを流用したいがために作った曲としか思えません。そして、「逆ふたまた」「愛情と友情」「圧倒的に片思い」の3曲は和声進行がそっくり、そのうえキー（ハ長調）まで同じで、私には同じ曲にしか聞こえません。私がこのアルバムを「失敗作」と判断する理由のひとつは、このあたりの曲作りの中途半端さにあります。
「愛は元気です」から「幸福の場所」までの頃の谷村有美の路線と、それ以後の路線のどちらを支持するかは、人それぞれでしょう。でも、前者を支持してきた私にとっては、このアルバムは期待外れでした。

すべての曲を谷村有美自身が作詞・作曲した意欲作。「信じるものに救われる」はダウンタウンのｈｅｙ３の後テーマにもなり大ヒット。４曲目の「優しいのにも程がある」はちょっと小粋な歌詞のダンサブルなナンバーです。さびにリフは素晴らしい。６曲目の「もうすぐあなたが帰ってくる」はサンバ調の明るい曲。楽しい気分にさせてくれます。７曲目の「ムーン」はボサノヴァ風アレンジのナンバー。谷村有美的「フライ・ミー・トゥー・ザ・ムーン」とでも申しましょうか！？

音楽だけで勝負するのなら。写真集はいらないはずである。必要であるのならキャラクター商品であるということ。キャラクター商品に『感動はいらない』。感動のないキャラクター商品。写真集にかねかけないで『才能に』かねかけたほうがいいと思うよ。そろそろ売る戦略を根本的にかえようぜ。『ルックス依存型』から『中身勝負』によ。
