アイドル歌手として芸能界に飛び込んだ郷ひろみが、業界の荒波にもまれな
がら完成された大人のシンガー、HIROMI　GOへと成長する課程をこの２枚
組ＣＤで堪能することができます。それにしてもＤＩＳＣ１に収められた
初期の作品の完成度には驚かされます。「裸のビーナス」「よろしく哀愁」

「あなたがいたから僕がいた」「マイレディー」などは今聴いても胸が
熱くなります。現在ヒットチャートを賑わしている曲の中で２０年以上
経過しても色褪せない曲が一体何曲あるでしょうか？
ＤＩＳＣ２には、名カヴァーの「哀愁のカサブランカ」と「ケアレスウィ
スパー」、そして近年の作品の中で出色のバラード「言えないよ」が

収録されています。特に５０万枚以上のセールスを記録した不滅のバラード
「哀愁のカサブランカ」はいつ聴いても涙腺が緩みます。この曲はドイツ
の詩人ゲーテを４世代前の伯父さんに持つバーティー・ヒギンズがオリジナル
でしたが、はっきり言ってヒギンズのオリジナルを圧倒していました。

日本人アーティストが洋楽をカヴァーする場合、オリジナルを越えることは
殆ど不可能ですがHIROMI　GOはそれをやってのけた本当に数少ない日本人
アーティストの１人です。

７０年代から９０年代初めまでのシングルヒットを収録した、まさにグレイテストヒッツ。郷ひろみのキャラクター通り、明るいポップなナンバーが多い。ヒットチャートの常連であることはもちろん、時代の顔となった代表的な曲が印象深い。「男の子女の子(A-1)」「How manyいい顔(A-15」)」「お嫁サンバ(B-2)」「２億４千万の瞳(B-6)」などなど。９０年代はバラードに転身し「言えないよ(B-15) 」などが大ヒットした。そんな中嬉しいのは、樹木希林さんとのデュエット曲「お化けのロック(A-9)」「林檎殺人事件(A-11)」が収録されている事。郷のエンターティナーを満喫できるアルバムでしょう。

歌謡曲黄金期の郷ひろみがぎっしり詰まったベストです。
　ＤＩＳＣ１は、よろしく哀愁はもちろん、お薦めは「恋の弱味」筒美京平さんのロックなＲ＆Ｂ歌謡曲が今聞いてもかっこいい。セクシー・ユー・・・
　ＤＩＳＣ２は、ヒット曲怒涛の15曲。「言えないよ」「哀愁のカサブランカ」、オフコースオリジナルメンバーの鈴木さんが提供している「素敵にシンデレラコンプレックス」など・・・。
　改めて、郷ひろみさんの存在感に気づかされます。「お嫁サンバ」は、他の人が歌ったら、絶対にかっこよくないよね！
