ずっと長い事、実家の戸棚に眠っていた、レンタル落ちのＣＤ。
それがこのアルバムでした。
玉置浩二には特別興味も無く、アルバムも聴いたことがありませんでしたが、何だか誰にも聴かれないＣＤが可哀相になって、ついつい実家から持ってきました。
家に戻ってから、じっくり聴いたのですが、だんだんと涙が・・・。

田舎で少年時代を過ごした僕には、一曲一曲にものすごく鮮明な風景が浮かんできて、とても懐かしい気持ちになりました。
都会に住んでいる僕と、田舎で育った僕の少年。
うまく言葉に出来ませんが、とにかく聴けば胸の深いところにしみわたってきます。

それと玉置さんの抜群の歌唱力にも気づかされました。

ここまで歌える人は、日本では鈴木雅之と玉置浩二くらいじゃないでしょうか？
ものすごく説得力のある歌声です。

自分の人生のアルバムトップ５には入りますね。
都会で育った人にはわからないかもしれませんが、僕のように田舎育ちの人には、間違いなく胸の奥の奥になにか郷愁のような感情が湧き上がってくると思います。

　それで買ってしまいました。

　アルバムタイトル曲　本当に最高です　泣けます。

　何か昔懐かしい故郷の風景。北海道の道東や道央を知る人には、余計理解できると思います。

　全体的にスローな曲が多く、私の嗜好とはピッタリでした。

玉置ファンの間で名作と評判の高いこのアルバム。ベスト盤で聞いた「カリント工場の煙突の上に」が、ちょっと私の好みとは違うな、と思って手がなかなか出ませんでした。
しかし!　何気なく聞き始めると、その美しく温かいメロディーラインに沿って歌われていく深く孤独な世界(家族をとても愛しているにも関わらず)に、とりこになりました。たとえば「西棟午前六時半」は、玉置さんが精神病院に入院していた時の情景の歌。「いつまでここにいるのだろうか　欠けた心のまま　欠けた体のまま　それでも楽しそうに笑う朝」こんなに辛い歌詞を、これほど温かく優しいメロディーと圧倒的な美声で歌ったアルバムを、今まで聞いたことがありません。
そして、すべての曲が素晴らしい。自分の郷愁や子供時代の記憶とつなげて聞くのもよし、玉置浩二の声の質としては頂点にある歌唱に聞き惚れるもよし、いろいろな聞き方ができるアルバムです。
しかし、私としては、この温かい歌の背後に広がるぎりぎりの悲しみに満ちた美しさに惹かれてやみません。他に類を見ない異様な傑作だと思います。
