特筆すべきは、やはりラストを締めくくる＜初秋＞に尽きるだろう。
この曲での表現は、浜田省吾というアーティストの視点が
その全ての作品群のなかに於いても、これ以上ないほどに研ぎ澄まされた、
結晶ともいうべき表現をしているのだ。

どこかの紛争地。
戦火に巻き込まれた愛する女性を抱き締めて泣き崩れる男の姿を、
主人公がブラウン管越しに目にしたところから物語は始まる。
そのTVニュースを眺めながら、彼は人を愛するということが、
その喜びの裏に、その大きさと同じだけの"失う痛み"を隠し持つのだ、ということをリアルに感じてしまうのだ。
そして主人公は大切な誰かに対して、
だからこそ『僕の名を呼ぶ声も、僕の手に触れるぬくもりも儚くて愛おしい』と強く感じるに至る。

あなたに問う。愛する人を"死"がいつか必ず奪ってゆくという現実、それを意識したことはあるだろうか？
いつの間にか流れてゆく日常のなかで、
あなたの妻が、夫が、恋人が、なんとなく永遠にいるような気がしているのではないだろうか？
だとしたならば、ほんの一瞬でいい、この歌を聴いて考えてみて欲しい。
曲の内容自体はフィクションだが、この曲には浜田省吾という生身の一人の男が出した偽らざる答えがある。
単なる「愛」という言葉を越えて「死と生」にまで昇華させたそのメッセージは、
すでにラブソングというには大きく深すぎるかもしれない。まさに究極のラブソングという名にふさわしい。

確かに、決して、ヒットチャートを賑わすような、気軽に聴けるアルバムではない。
でも、自分を投げ出しても惜しくないほどの『大切な誰か』がいる人には是非とも聴いて欲しい一枚だ。

生きるということは、決して生半可なことではないかもしれない。それぞれにいろんなことを思い、抱えて、もがき苦しもうとも、でも、一人一人の時を大切に、忘れずに生きるべきだ。当時、そんな風に励まされた気がする一枚でした。他の浜省のアルバムにもれず重い（失礼！）テーマがぎっしりで、それを払拭するようにサウンドはとてもポップだったりするんですが、その重さこそ浜省！なのです。

浜田省吾には、私のようなおっさんから10代まで幅広いファン層がいることと思う。
中には、守るべき人がいないという孤独な若者もいることだろう。
また、家族をまだ持たない人もいるだろう。
そのようなひとたちは、本当に守るべきものができたとき、
もう一度このアルバムを聴きなおすといい。
守るべきものができたとき、このアルバムは一層輝きを増す。
