タイトル曲『アジアの片隅で』はまさに大曲である。全世界のことを唄う拓郎から放射されたエネルギーが、地球を何周も回ってきてから身体に打ち込まれたかのようだ。単なるボーカルではなく、宇宙エネルギーと一体化したかと思うほどの迫力である。
『いつも見ていたヒロシマ』は名曲である。次の世代につなげていく責任を背負って僕たちは生きている。何ができるだろう。何が残せるだろう。そんなことを生きる意味にとらえて。
『元気です』は、聴いているだけで元気になる。口ずさむのにもぴったりする曲である。

「アジアの片隅で」，その余韻を完全に消してくれる曲，「二十才のワルツ」。この曲が発表された当時，それまで拓郎に見向きもしなかった男たちが隠れ拓郎ファンになった。

今でもおぼえている。この曲をはじめて聴いたときのこと。１月の成人式の前，FM放送のアナウンサーが静かな声でこの曲を紹介してくれた。

仕事帰りに拓郎のコンサートにでかけ，彼の歌に熱狂して，最後には背広の上着を思い切り振り回して興奮してみたいたい中年男性，隠れ拓郎ファンにすすめたいアルバム。

二十才のワルツのアルバムヴァージョンを含む傑作盤。タイトルチェーンはもちろん、あらあらしい拓郎の姿が伝わってくる。このころより、テレビにも出るようになってきた。買って損なし。

全作シャングリラは拓郎に合わないアレンジの失敗作品だったが、この「アジアの片隅で」はその反省を踏まえ、拓郎の持つ魂を振り絞ってリリースした傑作。
