このアルバム、大好きです。
１枚目のアルバム「RAINBOW RAINBOW」はファーストらしく、荒削りな部分があり、サウンドもどこか70年代を引きずっている感じ。
この２枚目「CHILDHOOD'S END」では、ずっと洗練されたクリアな、クリスタルな感覚のサウンドに昇華されてます。
このあと「GORILLA」以降のTM NETWORKの音は一世を風靡したいわゆる小室サウンドの型になっていくわけですが、その前のピュアなサウンドがこの「CHILDHOOD'S END」の特徴だと思います。
このアルバムではTM NETWORKのサウンドはまだ成長期だったようで、アルバムの前半と後半で音の種類、厚み、重ね方が全然違います。
私個人的には、前半のシンプルな音のほうが気持ち良く聴けます。

今聴いても「永遠のパスポート」「8月の長い夜」は秀逸だと思います。それと「FANTASTIC VISION」もアレンジが大好き。
TM NETWORKとして大人になる一歩手前のこのアルバム、試す価値は大いにあると思いますよ。

85年発表のTM NETWORKセカンドアルバム。

このアルバムは、意図的ではないにしろ、彼らの中でも異色作といえる内容です。というのは、このアルバムは、日本的なフォークやニューミュージックを彷彿させる情緒が随所に見られるということです。1stが、音は完全なテクノ･ポップ、歌詞も幻想的な雰囲気だったのに対して、この2ndは、アコースティックな音を多く使っているし、タイトルにも「永遠のパスポート」「8月の長い夜」などがあり歌詞全般も日常感覚を反映しているような歌が多いです。次の3rdでは、FANKSというキーワードが現れ、ディスコ調の曲が増え、TMのイメージが固まったことから、この2ndは、等身大の若者の日常を描きTMを最も身近に感じることのできるアルバムになっています。また宇都宮のボーカルが、いつになく張りがあり、かつ無理なく歌っている感じも、とても和みます。

このアルバムの曲って、あまりベストとかでは採り上げられていないけれど、M10"FANTASTIC VISION"は、ＴＮＣのイメージソングとして制作され、今でもＴＮＣ系の天気予報ではこれのインストが鳴っていて、実はたくさんの人がそのメロディを聴いているという意外な知名度を誇る良曲です。

一番好きなアルバムです！！！いわゆる人口に膾炙しているＴＭＮとは、
イメージやフィーリングが違う感じ（サウンドが確立される前のような）
の曲ばかりな気がしますが、このアルバムの曲がいつまでも自分の中で
風化せずに（飽きずに）残ってます。

他の方も推薦されている、永遠のパスポート。今でも聞いちゃうもんなぁ〜。
勿論他の曲も名曲が揃ってますよ！！！
