最近は、テレビで歌って踊ればだれでも「アーティスト」と呼ばれる。はては、自称「アーティスト」まで出てくる始末・・・その言葉をお手軽に使うんじゃない！矢野顕子みたいなホンモノのアーティストに失礼だろう！そこのテレビの人！！すみません、取り乱しました。

矢野顕子はやっぱりすばらしいですね。20年も前の曲がかえって新しく聴こえる。そういう力をもった曲を作れる人です。彼女はピアニストとしても半端ではないので、レコーディングでもライブでも、一流のサイドミュージシャンしか呼びません。だから、巷にあふれるファストフードのような音楽とちがって、矢野シェフが天然食材を使って料理したホンモノの音楽は色あせず、心を深いところで癒してくれます。

とくにラストの「すばらしい日々」は、永遠の名カバー。「君は僕を忘れるから、そのころにはすぐに君に会いにゆける」・・・なんてすてきな歌詞だろう（奥田民生もすごいな）。その後、ピアノの間奏がはじまると、何度でも泣いてしまいます。ミノ・シネルの魔法のようなドラミングも、このトラックの聴きどころです。

地元のCDショップには、「矢野顕子」のCDが一枚もない。
（渋谷とか）都心の方へ行かないと、ない。

私は矢野顕子を通じて「細野晴臣」「谷川俊太郎」
とかいろんな人を知った。いろんな文化を知った。

こういうカッコイイ音楽が街であふれればいいのにな、
と、常に思っている。

YMOが全盛で、リアルタイムで矢野顕子を聴いてこられた方はいいが、
もしかしたら矢野顕子が好きかもしれないのに、
「矢野顕子」の名前さえ知らないという人はどうしたらいいのか・・・。

私は矢野顕子さんのライブなどに比較的よく足を運んでいます。
彼女は進化しつづけています。いまも。これからも。

優美なピアノタッチに体は弛緩して、心は躍動する。
素直で可愛くて、大人で愛がある歌詞に胸が熱くなる。

矢野顕子の音楽がなければ生きていけません僕は。
