バービーボーイズというバンドが一番最初に発売したアルバム。
デビューのきっかけとなったＣＢＳソニーオーデションに提出された暗闇でＤＡＮＣＥを含む、デビュー前から歌われていた全１０曲。

緻密に計算された男と女のドラマを書くいまみちともたかさんに対して、素直なキモチを表現した（ように思える）近藤あつし（ＫＯＮＴＡ）さんの曲「ふしだらvsよこしま」がまた良い。
杏子さんが参加する前に聞いていて一番すきだったと言っていた小僧crin' on the beachも収録されている。
まずは、これがバービーボーイズの『1st Option』

5曲目の「a nine days wonder」冒頭のピピピという音は（不具合という意味での）ノイズではなく明らかに音楽的に意図して入れたものです。
当然の事ながら当時のアナログ盤にも入っていました。
ちなみにマスタリングにはイマサが実際に立ち会ったそうです。

BARBEEBOYSが現役で活躍していた頃、金が無かった私。どうしても聴きたくて一気に買った紙ｼﾞｬｹ仕様。
約10年振りに聴いたが...懐かしさを覚えるどころか、当時とは別の角度で新たな魅力を、更に確信させられた。
そのｴﾛﾃｨｼｽﾞﾑを存分に感じさせつつも、ｼｭｰﾙさと美しさを兼ね備えた表現力豊かな歌詞。技術性が高くなければ生み出せない、軽快で格好良い曲。
切なげに聞こえるKONTAさんの歌声とｴﾛﾃｨｯｸに誘惑するような湿っぽい杏子さんの歌声が絡み合う様。これこそ!!誰も絶対に真似出来ないBARBEEの魅力。
彼等を知らない若い世代の方に、是非一度聴いて欲しいです。
A面.2曲目:ふしだらVSよこしま(歌詞の表現と音楽がﾀﾏﾗﾅｲ!!)、B面.3曲目:小僧-cryin'on the beach(詞で無く詩と感じる、不思議な文学的魅力が好き。)
B面.4曲目:暗闇でDANSE(KONTAさんがﾊｼﾞｹﾀ感じがして...)個人的には、が大好きです。
