ロックというのはギターがひけてヴォーカルもうまいやつを中心にしたバンドというのが,基本形だけに,やっぱり一番カッコイイと思う。こういう感じってロックでいえば昔かたぎっていうことになると思うんだけど,ストリート・スライダーズもそういう昔くささを前面に出してやりつづけている。当節の流行風にドスンドスン・ドラムを強調したり,ウオウオ・ギターがヘヴィメタするわけでもない。よく彼らはストーンズ風ということが言われがちで,たしかにそうなのだが,ふと気づくと日本ロック史上,幻の存在で有名な村八分にかなり共通するものがあるように思える。妙に手なれたふりをしないで自分たちの限界点でやりつづけるからよいのだ。

私も、この人たちの存在は知っていたのですが、当時、あまり聞かなかったのですが、最近中古ＣＤ屋で安値で
購入して改めて聞いてみてハッマチャいました｡良いですよ、マジで、こんな良いバンド
だったのかと思いました｡このバンドのアルバム、ビデオとほとんどそろえてしまいました｡
このアルバムは僕個人的には2番目に好きなアルバムですが、（一番すきなのは、がんじがらめです）スライダースとプロデューサー佐久間氏
との融合したサウンドが、マッチしていてすごく良いです｡曲も詩もいいです。今、日本にこういうバンドがいないのは、寂しいですね。

やっぱりこれがスライダーズの最高傑作になると思います。Boys~はもう日本のロックのスタンダードと言ってもいいでしょう。一番乗りに乗っている頃の作品で、パワーと勢いが感じられます。人気もこの頃がピークだったのではないだろうか？ちなみに私はなぜか「蜃気楼」という曲が一番好きです。ハリーの歌い回しが特にふてぶてしくて気持ちいいです。解散したのが残念でなりません。ハリーは今後どこへいっちゃうのかな~。

正直、「洗練されちまったなぁ・・・。」という印象。スライダーズのストリートって「裏道」
ってイメージだったし、まぁメインストリートでも、深夜２時過ぎの路上感だったのだが、
ここでついに「表通り」に踊り出たっていうメジャー感がしっくりこなかった部分もある。
「SPECIAL WOMAN」のきらびやかさに王者の貫禄を見た。
まぁ一番の違和感はやっぱ開幕きっての「BOYS JUMP THE MIDNIGHT」でしょう。
これは古くからのずぶずぶのフリーク連からしたら、かなりアレだったよなぁ・・・。

”スライダーズはうねりながら聴くべし”という『鋼鉄の不文律』が崩れた曲だ。
そう、スライダーズフリークは決して”拳なんか振り上げちゃーいかんのです”
それは”ありえない”レベルの無作法だったはずだ。
もちろん曲に合わせて『お遊戯』のように約束の振りをするなんて”死”を意味した。

マスコミのレポーターが「スライダーズのどこが好きですか？」と訊けば、
「・・・・・・・・・・・・・・。」と内心で（馬鹿かてめぇ？どこがだとぅ？）吐くのが常だったんだ。

それがついに
BOYS!
JUMP!!
THE MIDNIGHT!!!ってサビに合わせて拳を上げちゃう輩が出現した。

売れるということは、
こういう「分かってない奴」まで、
ライブに集めちゃうことなんだなーと、
古株としては思うのも世の常です・・・。

他の曲はともかく、
この曲だけは本気で踊り切れなかった。
こういう曲は他のバンドがいくらでもできるからね。
