「湖のふもとでまだ猫と暮らしてる」というタイトルが不思議だと思っている方々へ・・・
前にも「湖のふもとで猫と暮らしてる」という歌をつくっていますが、これ実はＲＣサクセションの「山のふもとで犬と暮らしてる」へのアンサーソングであることはほぼ間違いないと思われます。清志郎と矢野さんの仲がどれくらいものかは知りませんが（一説によれば「ｷﾖｼﾁｬﾝ､ｱｯｺﾁｬﾝの仲」らしい）お互いにリスペクトする関係にはあるようです。とあるステージでは清志郎が「ひとつだけ」を歌い矢野さんが「トランジスタラジオ」を歌ったこともあります。このアルバムが出たころは清志郎がＲＣをやめて迷走していた（？）頃なので、歌詞も意味深なところもあり・・・おっと、あまり矢野さんのレビューになっていませんがこんな情報もありかなと思って書かせていただきました。

このＣＤに糸井重里氏がつけた惹句というか、宣伝文句が「かけっぱなしで気持ちいい。じっくり聴いて、スゴイ」というものだったと思います。まさしくその通りです。もう１０年ほどもまえのＣＤなのに、メロディーも詞もアレンジもぜんぜん古くなく、そこにそうあるべき必然性を備えています。昔、友人にこのＣＤをテープにとって渡したことがあります。その友人は矢野顕子の音楽に全く感心を持ってなかった人ですが、「最初聴いたとき、なんとも思わなかったのだけど、なぜか不思議に耳について、繰り返し聴いてテープがすり切れてしまった。結局自分でＣＤを買った。」と後に言っておりました。本当に上質で、キャッチーというのではないけど、不思議な力を持った音楽です。

ニューヨークで一番ギャラの高い連中と互角にレコーディングできる人物はそう多くはいない。ビジネスだけの場合がほとんど。だがこの女性の場合は外国音楽家から絶賛されているのである。
彼女が彼等を雇う理由はひとつ『早い、うまい、センスがよい』これなのである。あらゆる仕事に共通するポイント。
