この作品は自分の中でのスカパラのターニングポイントになった一作である。
今でこそスカパラの名全国的に知られているが、当時はまだ二の線だった頃で、知る人ぞ知るバンドだったと思う。

この作品を最後にバンマスのASA-CHANGは脱退するが、その後彼自身のバンド「巡礼」でも「グーガンガン」をフューチャーするなど、メンバーにとっても思い入れが強いのではないかと個人的に思う。
初期の昭和歌謡的雰囲気と、現在の疾走感が同居しているターニングポイントの本作品をお勧めします。

特に酒に酔って寝る前に聞く「ルックオブラブ」はマジで泣けます。

　東京スカパラダイスオーケストラ、3rdアルバム。

　2ndアルバム"ワールドフェイマス"では「音楽性を広げすぎた」ので
「このアルバムではもう一度自分たちがやりたいことを絞り込んだ」
と、後にベーシストの川上つよしは言っている。

　そんな作品だけに、たいへん完成度の高い今作です。上の書き込みに
「ターニングポイント」という表現がありましたが、的をえていると
言えましょう。これが後の4thアルバム"FANTASIA"5thアルバム
"グランプリ"そして現在のスカパラまでにつながってくる、まさに
スカパラの"胎動"を感じさせるアムバムです。

　中でも、no.8の"The look of love"は、ミュートトランペットの
切なさに鳥肌の立ちそうなレゲエ・ナンバー。ベスト、ライブアル
バム、DVDなど、これ以降の作品の四度も収録されるこの曲ですが、
なるほどそれだけの出来栄です。これを聞くためだけに買っても良い、
と言い切ってしまえます。(他の曲もスバラシイのは言うまでもなく！)

　"ワールドフェイマス"のような派手さ、"グランプリ"のような豪華さ
に欠けるが故か、地味な印象を受けがちですが、ぜひ聞くべき名作。

　是非ご一聴を！

4.0 out of 5 stars キャバレーミナミの夜はふけて・・・, 2008/1/31
　1993年キャバレーミナミライブを最後に創設者朝倉氏は脱退。このアルバムは、デビュー当時の『なんでもあり』から『現在』のスカパラにつながる分岐点であることは間違いありません。しかし個々の曲の出来でいえば、『バーニング・スケール/マライの號/いつかどこかで』 は、スカパラＡＴキャバレーに収録された音には及ばないとおもいます。
　ライブあってのスカパラです。
　デビュー当時、私は福岡市民会館でのライブに出向きました。ＣＤで聞いてもピンとこなかったものの、『君と僕』だけが生で聞きたかったのですが、冒頭のShot in the darkが始まり、ものの数秒で私は彼らのとりこになりました。つくづく『見なきゃ解らないバンド』です。
　このアルバムを思うのならばDVD『キャバレーミナミ』は欠かせません。演奏中、朝倉氏はＭＣを始め、クラベス・トランペット・紙飛行など様々な小楽器・小道具機を駆使してバンドマスターとしての最後の仕事を淡々とこなしていきます。
　最後に朝倉氏は『東京スカパラダイスオーケストラ！』と2回コールしてライブが終了します。その後の展開(後日知りました)を考えると万感の思いを感じずにはおれません。

　ちなみに　『ルック・オブ・ラヴ』 はビデオ『Word series』のエンディング演奏に尽きるというはなしは私と姉の間では有名な話です。これは本当ですよ。
