小室氏が書いた音楽座のミュージカル曲のサントラ。ＴＭネットワークのアルバム「ＨＵＭＡＮＳＹＳＴＥＭ」の中で既に彼はＷ．Ａ．モーツァルトの「トルコ行進曲」を挿入したりしているが、本作品で小室はモーツァルトに再び出会う。冒頭の「マドモアゼル・モーツァルトのテーマ」はアルバム中にしばしば出てくるフレーズを集めたクラシカルな曲。岩代太郎のオーケストレーションもよい。モーツァルトの曲をフィーチャーしたものも数曲ある。唯一歌入りの「永遠と名づけてデイドリーム」では小室のボーカルに賛否両論があろうが、歌詩は素敵。「いつか僕が泳ぎ疲れてこの海に沈む時は／どうか僕の刻んだ調べを永遠と名づけて」　最後は彼のインプロヴィゼーション風のピアノソロで締めくくられる名作。ジャケットの色使いにもセンスを感じる。

これは，氏作ったサントラの中で数少ないフルオーケストラでレコーディングされたものです．その気になればシンセでもある程度まで作れるのに，あえてアナログな手法を取った部分にこだわりを感じます．また，一連の曲はモーツァルトを意識してか一週間で全曲作曲したという話を聞いたことがあります．“吸血鬼ハンターD”のサントラで氏とTMにハマっていったのですが，これはその頃の気持ちを思い出させてくれた名品だと（勝手に）思います．

アルバムには1991年9月と記されている。
　〜いつか僕が泳ぎ疲れてこの海に沈む時は〜
それから17年後、この非凡なアーティストはほんとうに泳ぎ疲れてしまったのだろうか。
　〜どうか僕の刻んだ調べを永遠と名付けて〜　
名付けるだけでやめておけば・・・
　〜どれだけ泳げば帰れるか〜　
いつかまた我々にこの才能でまた喜びを与えて欲しい、
と個人的には思っております。
