　このアルバムeyesはeyesという曲だけでも聞く価値があります。楽曲eyes自体のメロディーは下のドから、シのシャープ、ドまでしか音符を使っていませんが、単純なキー使い、単純なメロディーであればあるほど、それだけ音楽を知っている、楽譜を知っているということになると思います。おそらくピアノで作曲したのでしょうが、一回キーボードでメロディーを弾いてみてください。メロディーを弾いてみたらわかると思いますが、渡辺美里という歌手を考えて考え抜いて、作曲された曲だからこそイントロは不協和音になったのです。和音は三つがひとつになって響きあう音ですから、逆に響きあわない音が不協和音ですから、逆に考えれば響きあいさえしなければ、誰でもライブで再現できるのだろうとは思いますが、不協和音はピアノで思いついた木根尚登という作曲家による最高の表現手段だったのかもしれません。ライブでもベストアルバムでも渡辺美里はeyesを盛んに歌います。歌詞も戸沢あけ美の渡辺美里に対する考え方、つらく無口にならないで理由もなく泣けてきても、とか一度も逢えないまま過ぎてくはずの人にひと言伝えたい逢えてうれしかったとそれだけ、とか歌詞によく現れていて歌詞も大好きなんです。本人が作詞作曲に関わっていない曲が多いからこそ、初期の渡辺美里がわかって、聞く価値アリです。初期でこれなら今がいかにすごいか、わかります。

　代表作『マイ・レヴォルーション』がブレイクする直前の美里１stアルバム。10代の反骨心や恋心を真正面から歌い上げててとてもいい！オープニング・コーラスの『SOMEWHERE』から『GROWIN'UP』の流れは彼女の方向性をはっきり示したものだし『18才のライブ』『死んでるみたいに生きたくない』は不器用だけど一本気な10代の心境を見事に表現してくれた。しかし、私が最も気に入ったのは『eyes』だろう。「~一度も逢えないまま　過ぎてくはずの人に　ひと言　伝えたい　逢えて　うれしかったと　それだけ~」今後たくさんの別れを繰り返しても私はこの歌詞をもってその方々に感謝したい。
　欲を言うならせっかく『きみに会えて』で盛り上がったんだからあとの『Bye　Bye　Yesterday』はなくてもよかったんじゃないの?
　感情のおもむくまま、力まかせに歌った美里のアルバム、新しい美里ファンにも古いファンの方にもおすすめの一枚です!

中高生時代の私とmisatoこと渡辺美里さんの歌は切っても切り離せない
そんな世代です。
彼女を知ったのは、音楽と漫画の師匠である従兄弟が（何せ高校の入学祝い
でビートルズのアルバムレコードを惜しげもなく「もう聴いて意味がわかる
年だろうから」とくれたり色々物と教えを頂戴してます）中学生の私に、
「最近、渡辺美里という人の歌と出てるラジオがいい感じ」といいながら
私にくれたのがこのアルバムのジャケのポスター。
大事にしなくてぼろぼろになっておかんに抹殺されてしまった。
このアルバムを聴きながら、部活や受験や諸々の日々を過ごした10代。
忘れちゃいけない事をとっときたい時にこれを聞いてます。
しかし、ポスターは帰らない、10代と共に。
ポスターだけはとっときゃよかった。
