   1980年代後半、それまで歌謡曲一辺倒だった日本の音楽シーンが、自ら曲も書けるバンドやシンガーを中心に展開し始めた。現在の“J-POP”の礎が作られた時期である。そんな時期とまさにリンクするのが、87年に放送が開始された北条司原作のアニメ『シティーハンター』の主題歌集である本盤だ。
   PSY・S、小比類巻かほる、大沢誉志幸、岡村靖幸、TMネットワークといった、CBSソニーやエピックソニー（当時）の誇る“新しい音楽シーンの担い手”たちが惜しげもなく投入されており、ちょっとした豪華なオムニバス・アルバムといった趣だ。中でもTMネットワークは、<15>によって大ブレイクへのチケットを手にしたと言っても過言ではないだろう。
   時折挟まれる、おなじみの声優による寸劇（？）は、今となってはさすがに気恥ずかしい感じもする。そういえば、本編からシームレスに主題歌に突入するという、当時のアニメとしてはめずらしい演出を行なっていたことも思い出される。（剛吉若寸也）

英語の歌モノ系が多いので、作品を知らない人に聞かせてみても全く問題無い仕上がりになっている。CITY　HUNTERはつくづく音楽に恵まれた作品だったと思う。かの有名なEDの「GET　WILD」は勿論、ここぞという時に流れた「FOOTSTEPS」 はやっぱり今聞いても最高、と断言できるアニメの枠を超えた名曲だ。

それら代表曲を一枚に集めたアルバム第一弾の本作だが、イントロに被さって登場人物らの台詞が入っているものが数曲あるため純粋に音楽を楽しみたい人にとってはあまりお勧め出来ない。面倒だが一枚一枚昔のサントラを集めた方がいいだろう。そうまでしても聴く価値は十分にあるのでご安心を。

しかしファンにとってはこの台詞が涙もの。アニメ自体が“決め台詞＆EDイントロ　→　ED”という流れだったその雰囲気をまんまこのCDで味わえるのだから。ドラマティックマスター２も一緒に手元に置いておきたいところ。

　シティーハンターのファンにとっては、
最高なＣＤだと思います。
主題歌はもちろん、
私が一番嬉しかったのは見せ場に流れる曲などの挿入曲も
収録されていたこと。
また、リョウたちのちょっとした会話も収録されています。
それが曲とつながってしまったのはちょっと残念ですが、
すごくいいＣＤにはかわりありません。
シティーハンターのファンなら、

買って損は絶対にしないと思います。

自分はすでに小比類巻かほるの曲を持っていたが、それでも
シリーズ２までのオープニング・エンディング・挿入歌が
全て入っているので十二分に満足できた。
中でも終盤の闘い時に流れるFootstepsやハッピーエンド直後に流れる
Mr.Private Eyeなどの挿入歌まで聞けるのはかなりうれしい。
星一つ減点の理由は、１・７・１０・１５番目の曲が始まる前に、

声優によるリョウ他のやりとりが一分ほどあり、それはそれで楽しいが
曲だけを聴きたいときには邪魔になってしまう為。
