This is the album that started it all for George and Andrew! Whether or not it will ever be "cool" to admit liking them, Make It Big sounds pretty good after all of these years. Granted, "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" is an impossible notion to begin with--who could possibly sleep after this sugar binge? But "Everything She Wants" has a sophisticated tension in its syncopation, and, wow, could the boy sing! ’８０年代の洋楽シーンの中心的デュオ、ワム！の２作目にして、
洋楽POP系の歴史に名を刻む、名盤中の名盤。
ワムの曲と言えば、近年でも、クリスマスになると、
しつこいほど、巷で耳にする「ラスト・クリスマス」が有名であろう。
だが、このアルバムの曲を聴いてこそ、ワムの醍醐味が
味わえるので、「ラスト~」を気に入った人は迷わず購入しなさい。
このアルバムには、不滅の名曲が２曲あり、
一つは3「フリーダム」、そして西城秀樹の曲で知られる
「抱きしめてジルバ」の元曲8「ケアレス・ウィスパー」
が収録されていて、この２曲だけでも十分聴く価値はある。
と言いたいところだが、全曲、極上のPOPソングとして
満足頂けるだろう。
とにかく、この頃の２人はカッコ良かった。
明るい曲ばかりで、常にウキウキさせてくれた。
まさに、’８０年代の「顔」でもあった。
この人達なくして、８０年代のPOPは語れません。

まず２０歳そこらで全てをコントロールしていたホントに天才：ジョージ・マイケルをお讃え下さいよ。

スティーヴィー・ワンダー、プリンス並に”ケタ外れ”の才能の塊です。

自伝映画の中で「ワザとお馬鹿なふりをしていた」と言ってましたが、その本質はすぐにソロになった時に露呈しましたっけ？...（笑）

２０歳にしてPOP MUSICの頂点を極めたこの男は、さらにその後数十年に渡りその才能を枯らす事無く、歌い続けています。

っていうか、アイズレー・ブラザーズのカヴァーをこんな風に歌える２０代のヴォーカリストって、なかなかいないと思うんですけど。

　Ｗｈａｍ！は当時売れてました。絶好調でした。そして最高傑作がこれだと思います。ジョージの「才能有り余り状態」です。どんなメロディでも流れ出すし，どんな声でも出せます。本領発揮であります。

　曲数が少なく，録音時間も短いけれど，お金を出して損はありません。「ウキウキ・ウェイク・ミー・アップ」や「フリーダム」といった軽快なポップスが並びますが，お薦めは「ハートビート」です。ああ，正統派，小細工はいらない，メロディとヴォーカルで勝負！って感じです。

「ケアレス・ウィスパー」はヒットしましたが，今聴くと古臭い感じです。
