5.0 out of 5 stars ８０年代のロックシーンを代表する一枚です。, 2004/4/15
ＥＵＲＯＰＥの３作目で、８０年代に世界中で大ヒットを記録した作品。タイトル曲となった「The Final Countdown」のキーボードによるイントロは、ハードロックに興味の無い方でも一度は耳にした事があるでしょう。

デビュー作からのファンの間では「アメリカナイズドされ過ぎて、北欧らしさを失った」との批判も有ったようですが、北欧のバンドらしい美しいメロディーラインは健在です。むしろ、前２作よりも曲のクオリティや演奏能力は格段に向上しています。

本作から参加したKeyのミック・ミカエリの貢献は、非常に高いでしょう。「Cherokee」では、ギターソロの後に素晴らしいキーボードソロを披露しています。

どの曲もシングルカット可能なほどクオリティが高く、そういう意味ではVan Halenの「1984」やBon Joviの「Slippery When Wet」に近いものが有ります。８０年代を代表するロックの名盤だと思います。
