前作まで他バンドとは大きく異なる強烈な個性を持っていたKORNだが、
このアルバムでは今までのような渦巻く怨念のような感情は薄く
ポップで受け入れられやすいサウンドへと変化。
ジョナサンはより「歌う」ことに専念し、
リズムはヒップホップ度がさらに増し、
「FREAK ON A LEASH」「GOD THE LIFE」など
けっこう強力な、キャッチーなメロディを持った曲も登場。

アメリカでの大ヒットという事実通り、
多くの人間に受け入れられるクオリティを持ったアルバムだ。

前作までの歪みきった音空間が好きな人には敬遠されるかもしれないが
これはこれでいいアルバムと言えるだろう。

個人的にＫＯＲＮが実験的に音楽性を変えるのは
画家や作家が読者に飽きられないように作風を
変えるのとは違い、すでに失われた初期衝動を
補うための修復作業なのではないかなと思う。
要するにもう１ＳＴ、２ＮＤのような作品を
つくる事はできないので、音楽家としてＫＯＲＮ
というＢＡＮＤのポテンシャルをあげていこうと
いう気持ちが現われた最初の作品がこの３ＲＤだと思う。
しかし、ＫＯＲＮの音楽性や世界観は卓越したもの
があるためそういう方向へ進もうともリーダーの座
を譲る事はありえない。
この３ＲＤはＩＣＥ　ＣＵＢＥやＬＩＭＰをゲストに
招き制作されいるだけにＨＩＰＨＯＰ色が出ていて
バラエティーに富んでいる。
はっきり言って聴きやすい。

私的洋楽ランキングで常に不動の一位の座に着いていたKORN。今作は随分受け入れられやすいアルバムへと変わってしまって残念。個人的に、あの歪んだ独特の世界観とリフとベースの重低音が気持ち良かったのに。まぁ今作でもバリバリ重低音ですけどね。なんていうか、前作等を聞いて好きだった人には少し物足りないかもしれません(実際私が物足りてないので)。
それでも客観的に見ればカッコイイことは確かです。辛口で星三つ。
