「ユースクエイク」「ブランドニューラヴァー」といった傑作アルバムを生み出した彼らが、セルフプロデュースという形で創り上げた本作、相変わらず判りやすく理屈抜きで楽しめるダンスアルバムに仕上がっています。オリジナルアルバムでありながらノンストップという形式をとり、流れるように聴かせてしまう趣向、しかしオムニパスのような似たり寄ったりの曲を繋ぐのではないため流麗とまではいきませんが、個性の強い曲をここまでまとめてしまう、dead or aliveならではだな、と思ってしまいます。

熱狂的な支持を受けた#01.「Turn around and count 2 ten」は、「the pearl & dean I HAD A DISCO DREAM mix」を流用、先発の single mix や I Love BPM mix よりも小刻みなキーボードやギターを効かせ、若干雰囲気の変わった作品に。それを受ける#02.「Give it back」もテンションを維持したかなりポテンシャルの高い秀作です。#06.「I don't wanna be your boyfriend」、#08.「I cannot carry on」の重みを感じるサウンドは今作のハイライトかも知れません。派手なリミックスのベースになった#05.「Come home with me baby」オリジナルヴァージョンも興味深いですし、一度アルバムを締め括るハードなユーロチューン#09.「My forbidden lover」は小品ですが必聴かと思います。

カウント２テン聞いて下さい。出だしからぞくぞくするような感覚に
なっていくでしょう。これまでにない又新しい曲調が満載で息おもつかせぬ
なんといっていいか、かっこいいんです。
歌詞を見ながらきけば更に思いが伝わると思います。
最後のラブ・トーイという言葉はピートの思いでしょうか。

どこのディスコでも必ずかかった、
「Turn around and count 2 ten」懐かしさで涙が出ます。

Dead or Alive の魅力といえば、ゴージャス感ではないでしょうか？
曲の華やかさやアレンジにヴォーカルが決して負けていない、圧倒的な存在感。
ユーロの王道だとおもいます。
あの時代はイケイケだったなあ、と思い出しながら聴くもよし、
昔はこんなパワフルな曲があったのか、と新発見するもよし、
おすすめの一枚です。
