個人的には”Life”の入ってるス-パーナチュラルよりこっちの方が好き。
というより、デズリーのアルバムでは、これがいちばんいいと思う。

少なくとも、この人の書く詩はいいかもと思える人にはぜひ聞いてほしい。

映画を見ていたらエンドロールの際「You Gotta Be」が流れてきました。
どんな人が歌っているのかどうしても知りたくて、慣れない英語ばかりのエンドロールを何度も見て、タイトルと歌手名を探した記憶があります。
それ以来、彼女のCDはいつも楽しみですが、やっぱり始めに出会ったこの1枚は静かな歌声の中に、力があるようで、大切な1枚です。

一時期、某デカプリオ主演の映画「RとJ」の中に出てきた曲も話題になりましたが、じっくり聞いてくれる方にはこちらの1枚がオススメです。

　ビジュアルよりも、その歌声と歌唱力で勝負している印象の彼女。歌声は落ち着いて低め、もしくは低い声域のほうがキレイに出るタイプのシンガー。シンプルな伴奏のほうが彼女に合うタイプ。少し鼻にかかった感じのする流れるような声質。だから、希望に満ちて明るい曲もすごく落ち着きがあって安心して聴ける印象。

　個人的には自作の｢SUPER NATURAL｣よりも、こちらのほうが好み。
アルバムの内容は良いので音楽のわかる人にはお勧め。決して歌も曲も派手はないので聞き込む必要あるかも。その代わり噛めば噛むほど味が出る。ミーハーには不向き。
裏ジャケはアフリカ大陸をモチーフにしてあるが、アフリカのパーカッションなんか使ってある曲もある。最終曲のI Ain’t Movin’(Percussion Reprise)なんかもパーカッションのみバックに使ったすごくシンプルな一曲で、自然に聞こえてきて通り過ぎていくという印象に仕上がっている。あまり聴いたことのないような柔らかい音の弦楽器もあって個人的にすごく気になる。
1 You Gotta Beはサビの部分は印象に残りやすいので、聴いたことのある人も多いのでは。
