　結成〜ロブ・ハルフォード(vo)が1993年に脱退するまでの、2枚組ベスト盤。一度、完全に歴史が終わったこともあり、「出し惜しみ」の一切ないベスト盤となっている。リマスターもされている。それも、単なるリマスターではない。ミックスダウンからやり直しており、特に古い曲では音が劇的に向上している。

　最たる例が、静かなアコースティック・バラード「Before The Dawn」。定位の関係でギターが前に出すぎていたのが、ヴォーカルを中心に組み直されており、向上度は比較にならないほど。

　全盛期は5オクターブを誇った超人シンガー：ロブ・ハルフォード。その金属質の声質で、優れたブリティッシュ・メタル・ソングを数多く残した。気品のある劇的ナンバーから、ロックン・ロール。低音を使った短い曲から、近未来的な大作まで。

　巧みに流行を取り入れて時代を駆け抜けたバンドでもあり、1970年代はアコースティック〜大作。1980年代はシンセ。1990年代は激烈なヘヴィ・サウンドと、時期によって結構サウンドが違う。しかし、根底にあるメロディーは常にらしさを失わない。実にバランス感覚の優れたバンドである。

　尚、2作を別のヴォーカルが歌った後、ロブが復帰。第二章は今も進行中である。

　メタル界のトップクラスとして名をはせるジューダスプリーストのベスト版です。長い歴史があるので２枚組みになっており、ボリュームも十分、初心者にもおススメです。

　1993年、JUDAS PRIESTのベスト・アルバムです。

　選曲は、Gull / RCA時代は"Victim of Changes"のみで、他は Columbia / Sony時代です。
　音源は、"Victim of Chages"が「Unleashed in the East」からなので、すべて Columbia / Sonyの作品からです。
　Live音源は、上記"Victim 〜"の他、"Heading Out to the Highway"が「Priest ... Live !」からで、
他の曲は、すべてスタジオ音源となっています。

　個人的な嗜好は別として、選曲は素晴らしいです。
　2枚組というボリュームも、Good！
　Disc 1が、「The Hellion → Electric Eye」というメタル最強の流れで始まり、
Disc 2が、「Screaming for Vengeance → You've Got Another Thing Comin'」という素晴らしい流れで再スタート、
。。。そして、最後は「Night Crawler」で締める。。。という、にくい演出も最高です！

　発売当初は、「Rob Halford時代の終焉」という感じで、買ってはみたけど素直に楽しめない、複雑なベストアルバムでした。
　が、Robが復帰した現在では、最高のベスト・アルバムです。
　
　JUDAS PRIESTのLiveへ行く前に、よくコレを聴いて「おさらい」しています。
　また、「初めてJUDAS PRIESTのLiveへ行く人」への「予習用」としても、最適です。
　もちろん、「JUDAS PRIEST 初心者」にも、オススメです。
