　モーニング娘。の別働ユニット：タンポポ。その1st.アルバム『TANPOPO 1』は、高い完成度を誇り、アイドル・ファン以外から、むしろ評価されている事で知られる。

　「モーニング娘。とは違う作風」ということで、大人っぽいダークな路線でスタートしたこのユニット。1st.シングル「ラストキッス」は大ヒット（30万枚超）したものの、更にディープになった2nd.シングル「Motto」は、完成度はA級だったがファンには受けなかった。

　これを受けて番組（ASAYAN）から路線変更指令があり、収録曲中、一番明るいこの曲をシングル・カットすることになった。既に発売済の楽曲のためか、出だしの歌詞を一部変更。別ヴァージョンで収録している。曲の完成度としては、前2シングルには遠く及ばないと思うが、いかにもアイドル、という曲調・ジャケットが大受けし、アルバム以上に大ヒット。これが後の路線を決定づけた、とする意見が多い。

　「たんぽぽ畑」は流石になかったようで、撮影は「菜の花畑」で行われた。矢口真里はこの頃が一番美少女してたなぁ。ふっくらとした二の腕が、凄ぉ〜く、好きだった。福田明日香が抜けてしまい、ファンを辞めようと思っていた自分が、暫く続いたのは矢口のルックスによるところが大きかったのだった。

　（曲★★★＋ジャケット★★★★★）÷2 でこのように。

アダルトな雰囲気漂う1st及び2nd Singleとは違って、ポップな曲である。2nd Singleと1st Albumの売り上げが、思わしくなかったための路線変更だろう。1st Album『TANPOPO 1』からのシングルカットなのだが、皮肉にも『TANPOPO 1』以上の売り上げを記録してしまう。そのため、その後この路線を進み続けることになり、その先に石川・加護の加わった第二期タンポポが存在したとも言えるが、石黒の存在は非常に大きく、曲調がポップになったからと言っても、第二期タンポポよりずっとアダルトな感じで、石黒に影響されてか、飯田・矢口までも第二期タンポポとは違う雰囲気をまだまだ醸し出している。石川・加護が加わった別バージョンの『たんぽぽ』も存在するが、それを聴けば飯田・矢口と石川・加護の対比から、第一期の飯田・矢口のキャラクターも、第二期とは違っていることが理解出来ると思う。カップリング曲『A Rainy Day』もポップであるが、『たんぽぽ』よりも歌詞の内容は大人っぽい。

1stアルバムからのシングルカットなのだが、
一応、バージョンが違っている。
まあ、そんなことよりも、
私は、たぶんハロプロの中で、
この曲が一番好きである。
・・・っていうか、オススメできる。
そもそも女の子の素直な気持ちを、
この歌で全てを代弁していると、
たぶん言い切っていいかもしれないという詩や、
だいぶ70~80年代のテイストを帯びているが、
曲の構成が、めっちゃわかりやすい。
歌の中に個性があって、それがとても光っている。
多分、この3人で歌えた最高の歌だと思う。
