浜田省吾のライヴ版というのはなぜこんなに少ないのでしょう。ライヴ音源には原曲以上の感情と演奏を備えているものがこんなにも多いのに･･･そんなことを考えている浜省ファンは多いはず（多分）。さて本作は近年のリマスター再発から外れている数少ないアルバムのひとつです。音は確かに今のクォリティからすればイマイチかもしれない。が、この盤に収められている音源は「原曲以上のもの」と言い切れます。ぜひ一度聞いてから後悔してください。浜田省吾のファンを自称する自分からすれば、感動の一枚なんだけどなぁ。毎日聴けるとはいいません。心に残る一枚だと思います。名盤なんて、そんなもんだと私は思います。

浜田省吾に最初に出会ったアルバム。
長い歳月の間に聞かなくなった時もあったけど、FMなどからたまに耳にすると、自然に口ずさめる曲の数々。
ライブアルバムだが私はこのアルバムから入った為に、通常の曲を聴いた時にスピード感が物足りなくなる。
ライブに定評がある浜田省吾のパワーとスピードが刻まれた、聞き応えのある1枚だ。

Midnight Blue Train 2005を聴いた後、このアルバムを取り出して聴きました。ずっと聴いてなかったけど、今聴くととても新鮮で感動しました。演奏・音響・録音ともベストではないと思いますが、あの頃の省吾さんのひたむきさ・気持ちが何のフィルターもなく素直に伝わってきます。ON THE ROADというアルバム名の通り、きっとここから始まったのでしょう。そして、省吾さんはまたその原点に戻ったのではないか。光と影の季節と合わせて聴きながらそう思っています。
今見ても、ベスト盤のような曲並びですが、それよりも、私にとっては、あの時の省吾さんに出会える貴重なアルバムです。
