今年5月のデビュー以来、半年で5枚のマキシ・シングルをリリースしたTHE TRANSFORMER。3枚目の「錆びた雨」が送られてきた時、ジャケットを見て「また新しいビジュアル系のバンドか」と思ったのだが、ちゃんと聴いてよかった。物事の本質をとらえている、太く逞しいロックがそこにあったから。ギター&ヴォーカル、ギター、ベースという3ピース・バンドであるTHE TRANSFORMERは、その編成と同じようにサウンドにもムダがない。エフェクティヴなギターはまるでキーボードがいるかのような響きを聴かせることも多いし、とにかく三人でやっているとは思えないほど(正確に言えばドラムスがサポートで入っているのだろうが)音が太い。ブリティッシュ・ロックに影響を受けているであろう陰影のあるサウンドに、聴く者を強く引きつける力のあるヴォーカル。そして、メロディは渋さを含むポップ・センスに満ちている。これは本物だ。 (楡崎明生) --- 1999年12月号

全体的に聞きやすい曲調で、所謂「かき鳴らし系」なのに声が音楽に負けることなく響いてくる。やや荒々しい声と、絶妙に入り込んでくるギターとがたまらない。癖になること間違いなし。
アップテンポの曲は、一緒に歌いたくなるようなシャウトが気持ち良い。そしてなんといってもバラードのメロディラインは秀逸。

歌詞は、大きく分けると感傷的なものとそうでないものに分かれるので、感傷的なものが苦手な人にはうけないかもしれない。
ボーカルの表現力がかなりのものなので、「ロック」では破壊衝動的な突き抜けた歌い方で魅せ、バラードでは何気ないメロディの変化や言葉で一気に泣かせてくる。

ロックが苦手でも一度は聞いて欲しいアルバム。

旋律の良さ、ギター、ボーカル、
全ての調和のとれている。今はインディーズでものすごい
もっともっとより力強い音楽やってるけど
大胆さと繊細さの入り交じる不思議なバンドです。
しかも上手い。いい具合に歪んでいるギターにしゃかれた
ボーカルが耳に残ります。最高
