宣伝コピーは「今世紀最高の大ヒット・メーカーたちが放つ未来からの超巨編！」だそうだがとてもそうは見えないB級臭漂うSF映画。出だしのバーのシーンでは役者まで投げやりに見える。気球屋を夢見るならず者の主人公、「人間的に」完璧すぎるロボット、全てが崩壊した未来世界で前時代の遺物を守って生きる人々・・・それぞれの設定にはちょっと無理があるかもしれないが、そのおとぎ話的さじ加減が良い。マーク・ハミルの名前が前面に出てきてますが彼は悪役です。知恵も勇気も才覚もある、ただとんでもなく独善的な正義漢。ハミル独特のちょっと高慢なしゃべり方が実にマッチしています。ヒールとして大成して欲しかった。

現在のところ日本版のDVDは出ていないようです。ぜひ日本版の発売をお願いします。
