　1960年代からモンキーズ等に曲を提供したソング・ライターであり，また1970年代にはブレッドのリーダーとして数々の名曲を世に送り出したデヴィッド・ゲイツが1994年に出したソロ・アルバムです。

　正直言いまして，このアルバムが出ていることは知っていました。しかし，牧場経営のために音楽活動を離れてから十数年ぶりに出したアルバムであるため，「もしもブレッド時代の面影がみじんも残っていない曲ばかりだったらどうしよう？」という恐れが先に立ち，どうしても聴くことができなかったんです。

　で，実際聴いてみると，１曲目のAORっぽいアレンジの『Avenue Of Love』は「悪くはないんだけれどねぇ」という感じでしたが，次に流れてきたタイトルナンバーでもある『Love is Always Seventeen』を聴いたときには思わず涙がこぼれそうになってしまいました。

　何故なら，そこにはブレッドの頃と少しも変わらない切なくてそれでいて心が暖かくなるメロディーがあったのです。もちろん，あの柔らかく美しいヴォーカルも健在です。
　他にもメロディーの美しい曲が多く，これは大人が聴くPOP アルバムであると言えるのではないでしょうか？
