ハリウッドに時ならぬアジアブームが巻き起こっているが、スコセッシ入魂の、この一作は、その中でも一際輝いてみえる。スコセッシ１８番の多種多様なテクニックも複雑精緻なプロットも、ここでは用いられていない。美しいカメラと、フィリップ・グラスの音楽、ストイックな演技によって、ダライ・ラマの半生を、アンチハリウッド的な繊細さと、ハリウッドらしいスケールの大きさを両立させて描いている傑作。

当時流行っていたセブンイヤーズインチベットは
ブラピの美しさでチョイチョイと誤魔化しているがそれでも満足してたのに
これはチベット決定版の映画です。しかし上映当時ガラガラ　
宣伝もあまりしてないし。こんな素晴らしい映画ですが、そんな訳で
一般の店舗で流通しているのは見たことない
興行的に失敗だからスコセッシ抹殺したのだろうかと疑うくらいです
だからこれは超レアなDVDなのです。
映像の美しさを見るとあ~お金を湯水のごとく使っただろうな~
そのカイは監督ありましたよといいたい。脚本もよく出来ているし
当時チベットにこっていた私は本を読み漁りとうとう現地にもいってしまい
旅行半年後にこの映画を見　満足
ペラペラの制限ありありセブンイヤーズインチベットに物足りない　あなた
真実を忠実に再現してます感動しました。頑張れチベット人

ありがとう販売してくれて！！！手に入らないと諦めてました。

チベットの最高指導者である“ダライ・ラマ１４世”の半生記を綴った作品です。平和な日本に生きているわたしたちにとって、いろいろ考えさせられる映画でした。ダライ・ラマとチベットの民の苦悩が伝わってきて、その侵略が今も続いていることに、哀れみを感ぜずにはいられない。ラストシーンのダライ・ラマが民の不幸を思いながら、避難せずにはいられないその苦悩の表情は、なんともいえない思いが心の内側から湧き起こってきた。。。
