「独裁者ヒンケルと街の床屋が似ているのは全くの偶然です」
「随分と穏当な翻訳であることをお許し下さい」
など、ナレーションまで芸が細かく、笑える。
ただ、見終わった後どこかほろ苦さが残るのも確か。
これがチャップリンの味なのだろう。

この作品はヒンケルことヒトラーに対して、とても熱いメッセージがこめられた作品でした。最後の演説では、本当の意味での感動を心から味わうことができ、戦争や虐殺・・人間の欲だけによる行動はあまりにも無意味であり、悲しいことだ。と考える事ができました。監督チャップリンはこの演説のためにこの作品を作ったのではないだろうかと思わせるないようでした。コメディとしてもとてもレベルの高い作品でした。。
