   ジョン・カーペンターの作品の中で、このB級映画は生き続けている。『パラダイム』は画期的な気味の悪さを持つ超常ホラーだ。理論物理学を専攻する学生たちが、彼らの教授であるバイラック（ビクター・ウォン）に率いられ、司祭（ドナルド・プレザンス）と共に、悪魔の復活を食い止めようと闘う。闇の王子は渦巻く緑のプラズマとなって遥か昔から円筒状の容器に閉じ込められていたが、今、そこから出る方法が見え始めてきた。こうしたすべてが風変わりで科学的な会話（その全部が正しく、誰かがしっかり下調べしたのは確かだ）で支えられている。そのお陰で、観客は話に入り込め、さあいいぞと言って、ここで既に前兆を感じるスリルを楽しむことができるのだ。原題である“闇の王子（Prince of Darkness）”が、封印されていた悪魔を研究するために教会に来ていた学生たちを次々に操っていくと、この作品はジョージ・A・ロメロの『ナイト・オブ・ザ・リビング・デッド / ゾンビの誕生』へのオマージュの様相を呈してくる。カーペンターの初期の映画『要塞警察』のように 。そして、これが量子物理学と宗教的な正統性をうまくかみ合せる手法になっている上に、悪魔の従属者であるゾンビがたくさん生まれるのだ。血なまぐさいスプラッターなシーンは多く、それは観た人たちが「こりゃひどい映画だ！」と言いながら大きく口を開けて笑う類いだ。ホームレス役のアリス・クーパーに注目。きっとすぐに分かるだろう。（Jim Gay, Amazon.com）

4.0 out of 5 stars 低予算B級ホラーの帝王 カーペンター監督の佳作, 2002/3/23
登場する俳優陣は、同監督『ゴーストハンターズ』で活躍する中国系俳優です。学生中心の大学の研究チームという設定ですが、それにしては若手俳優がややとうが立ちすぎているかな。

悪魔崇拝と悪魔の甦りという設定はアイラ・レヴィン原作、ポランスキー監督『ローズマリーの赤ちゃん』の焼き直しですが、おどろおどろしいという点では圧倒的にこちらに軍配が上がるでしょう。特に、見捨てられた教会内部のいや~な雰囲気は見ている側も呼吸困難になりそうなほどです。これと、「夢」を介した未来からの一方的通信というアイデアが評価点です。

『遊星からの物体X』ほどの派手さはないですが、カーペンター監督のホラー佳作であることは間違いないでしょう。

出だしは科学とか方程式とか、ナンだか難しそうでしたが結局は悪魔の復活を阻止するストーリーでした。
死人が動き出したり追いかけてきたり、ゾンビの様。
後半の悪魔の復活辺りは結構怖かったっ！

Ｂ級を狙って作られた作品のようですが、オープニングの音楽を含めなかなかGoodな作品だったかな。

監督：ジョン・カーペンター（ハロウィン等）
アリス・クーパーもちょっと出演ｗｗ

B級とされる映画、カーペンター監督のホラー作品。
A級って何だ???。
これは悪魔復活の予兆では――と学者&殉教者が立ち上がる。
次第に狂い始める実態――。
鏡と鏡を対いにすると、そこに∞(無限値)が出来あがる。そこを悪魔が通るそうな。
この映画を観て、鏡に映った自分が本当の自分か? ふふふッ(*_*)。
虫食いゾンビが崩れる様は駿逸!!!
