   フランク・キャプラ監督の『ポケット一杯の幸福』をジャッキー自らメガフォンを執ってリメイクした、1989年製作のアクション娯楽大作。時は1930年、香港で職を探してさまよっていたトウ（ジャッキー）は、詐欺師に騙されて一文無しになってしまう。しかし、偶然マフィアの抗争に巻き込まれた彼は、ボスの死に際に突然後継者として指名され、まったく違う人生を歩むことになる。
   ゴールデン・ハーベスト社設立20周年記念として製作された今作は、ストーリー、アクション、カメラワーク、音楽など全てが大変よく練り込まれており、ジャッキー映画の中でも特に評価の高い作品。アクションよりもハート・ウォーミングなストーリーに重点をおいた内容だが、豊富なアイデアで観る者を釘付けにするような、テンポの良いアクションを適度に盛り込んでいる。特に後半のロープ工場のアクション・シーンは秀逸で、ファンの間でもベスト・ファイト・シーンとの声が高い名場面だ。役者陣もユンピョウやジャッキー・チュンといった名優が多数出演しているが、特にヒロイン役のアニタ・ムイはすばらしい。実際に歌手である彼女がステージで歌うシーンは一見の価値あり。今作はジャッキー・ファンならば、必ず観ておかなければならない名作だ。（川島昭光）

舞台は1930年の香港。ジャッキーは、ふとしたことがきっかけで、ギャングのボスとなる。それが、幸運のバラをくれた女性のお陰と思っているジャッキーは、恩返しをするために素敵な演出を試み、見事成功する。心温まるストーリー。
共演は、ジャッキー映画にはおなじみ、今は亡きアニタ・ムイとトン・ピョウ。
監督など殆どをジャッキーがこなし、ジャッキー自身が最もいいシーンが撮れたと以前語っていた映画でもある。相変わらずジャッキーは体はってますよ。

大筋はポケット一杯の幸福と同じだが
香港らしさが前面に出て映画自体はまったくの別物
ジャッキー映画おなじみのかくれんぼギャグもあり
全体に笑いと涙ありって感じでよくできている
僕はスパルタンXよりこっちが好きなんだけど
世間の評価は低いのかなぁ・・・

まぁユンピョウが友情出演でちょろっとしか出てこないとことか
最後の格闘の敵がいまいちボス的な感じの強さでないところが
評価を下げるのかも

アクション抑えめな、ジャッキー・チェンの作品
そうは言っても、そこはこの人
いろんな事をしてくれる

特に今回は帽子が小道具
常にアクセントとして使われ、小気味良い
苦労を苦労と感じさせない、サラッとした見せ方も良い

ところで、やたらカメラの上下移動ショットが多い

彼の映画ではあまり見られなかった撮影方法なので、今迄とスタッフが違うのかと思った
後日、何かのインタビューで
『”ミラクル”から、やっとカメラ用にクレーンが導入出来た』
みたいな事を言っていた
余程嬉しかったのか？　クレーン
