   幼いころに聴覚を失い、母親に捨てられた過去を引きずりながら生きている新進画家と、夢と希望を抱いて劇団に所属している女優の卵との甘くせつないラブストーリー。聴覚障害を持つ画家の榊晃次（豊川悦司）は、溌剌として純粋な紘子（常盤貴子）と運命的な出会いをする。懸命に手話を覚え、思いを伝えようとする紘子の熱い思いに、晃次の閉ざされた心も次第にほぐされていくのだった。
   とにかくせつなくなりたいのなら、この90年代を代表する名作はうってつけだ。晃次と紘子のすれ違いの連続には、ハラハラさせられっぱなし。登場人物の数が少ない分、2人の恋の行方はより入念かつ繊細に描かれており、またそれに応えるかのように、豊川悦司と常盤貴子がキャリア中ベストともいえる名演をみせる。とりわけ作品を味わい深いものにしているのが、晃次のモノローグだ。岡田浩暉、麻生祐未、そしてこのドラマがデビュー作だった矢田亜希子らの好演も心に残る。（麻生結一）

脚本・北川悦吏子さんが豊川悦司の大きな手を見て役柄のイメージを膨らませたというだけあって、言葉では伝わりきらない感情を“手”が表現することもあるんだなぁと感心したドラマです。ストーリー自体はとりたてて目新しいものはありませんが、声を出すことができないとわかっていても「愛している」の一言を求める紘子と、そうしたくても声を出す勇気が出せない晃司、見ていると切ない。２人で何度もやりとりするFAX、手紙も泣けます。

私の一番好きなドラマがコレです!!
ほんとに素晴らしいドラマです。

放送当時中学生でした。今現在地元で再放送でやっているのですが、常盤貴子さん出演ドラマのヒロイン役としてはこの作品が好きです。女優の卵、水野紘子と聴覚を失った画家、榊晃次。豊川悦司さん若すぎるし、今も色褪せない切なく手話を使ったラブストーリーです。
