後半３部作の２作目に当たるこのアルバムはボーカルナンバーを除き、全てＬＩＶＥ音源を加工したといわれています。そのせいか、インプロビゼイション性は更に高まり、もはやロックの範疇では語れない「音の固まり」になっています。また、クリムゾンによくいわれる静と動の対比ですが、静の曲は１曲だけで、後は動の曲ばかりになっており、前期クリムゾンを通じ、最もヘヴィな
アルバムになっています。好き嫌いははっきりわかれると思いますが、肯定派にはたまらないアルバムだと思います。もちろん、私は肯定派であり、肯定派はここから各種ＬＩＶＥ音源を求めることになります。
３部作は決して万人向けではありませんので、前作の「太陽と戦慄」から聞いて趣味に合うかどうかを決めればよいと思います。
