音楽世界で威圧を与える　みゆきさんの代表曲は近年増えてきている　　それは繰り返される戦争や他国の災難は対岸の火と今の人類は心が狭くなってきている　だが何とかしようと思い悩む人もいる　しかし自分の力では戦争を止めることが出来ない非力についても書かれている　その考えを一つにまとめた様な作品が『PAIN』だろう。この曲は全世界の１人１人に聴いて欲しいほど差迫る　みゆきさんの思いが伝わってくる。残念ながら戦争は終わらないと私は思う　元々は小さな争いが自分が自分が大切と自分こそが正しいとしてきた人間の本能が大きな争いごとにしてきたのだと思う　対岸の火ではなくて今の自分の心に平和を願いつつも　怒り、妬みなど消えないのではないか　この曲は人ひとりひとりの永遠のテーマだと感じられる　この一曲にみゆきさんは、いくつもの感情を非常に広い音域と声量で表現し数十人のオーケストラと共に一発録音で収録している。悲しさ、哀れさ、怒り、寂しさ　これほど内容共に音楽としての芸術作品としてのものは　やはり　この人しか作れなかっただろう　私が一番好きな曲だ。是非聴いていただきたい

みゆき楽曲の魅力は詞や旋律だけでなく、歌い手としての多彩な歌声表現にこそ実は大きな聴き所があります。そして“夜会”発の作品では特にそれが顕著にみれるのです。おどろおどろしい凄みの声や、空虚だったりうわの空だったり実に色彩豊かです。そのおかげで歌としての幅が広がり、表現力も実に斬新なものになります。

1「1人でうまれてきたのだから」はアンニュイな歌声で女が独りで生きることそれがどうしたっていうの、と達観した表情で歌います。しかし「Maybe」のような憂いも見え隠れさせるんですね。歌声にこめた微妙な表現が詞や音だけで表しきれない領域をカバーするのです。一方2「紅い河」では風景を淡々と描写する声に徹します。幽玄的な物語が湧き立つような雰囲気で。するとそこは異国か冥土か夢想の世界に誘われるよう。

他方真夜中のジャズ3「LAST SCENE」は夢に唸されるスキャットで終わるかと思いきや、闇の向うから悲哀に満ちた声が這い出してきます。4「女という商売」はビバップ。虚無と甘ったるい歌い方は般若の面を被ったモンローのようで、女の恐さと溜息に溺れそうです。5「SMILE,SMILE」では励ます男の声に化けますが「愛情物語」と同じエフェクトのおかげで妖しい囁きのようにも。

6「PAIN」は圧巻で、無力を自ら皮肉る空虚な声の一方、自然を動かす雄雄しい声も同居している点が人の多面性を表すようです。そして歌が進むにつれ少しずつ声を変えてゆく表現も大注目。同じ詞や旋律を同じように歌う点がないのです。そして転調から一気に盛り上がりミュージカルのロングトーンで主題を伝える一瞬は感動です。“笑え雨よ”という言葉もその歌い方で意味合いが変わり、慈愛の雨のようでした。
8「時効」の声は当に人の醜さそのもの。9「愛から遠く離れて」は旋律が美しく声には主題のように遠い懐かしさが溢れています。
