あらためてブレイク前のアコースティック、ポップ期のこのシングルコレクション聞いているとなんで売れなかったの?と思うくらいほんといい曲が一杯です。今のアルフィーほど派手じゃない分メロディ コーラス が素直に際だっています。高見沢さんほんと頑張っていろんなタイプのいい曲書いていたのがわかります。

デビュー27年を迎えるTHE ALFEE。
そのTHE ALFEEのシングルコレクション第一段。
このHISTORY1では、再デビュー曲「ラブレター」から
82年「別れの衝動」までの全シングル曲とそれぞれの
カップリング曲を収録。
THE ALFEEの地位を不動にする大ヒットさく「メリーアン」
以前のフォーク色の強い曲が多い。
それゆえに現在のロック形態よりさらに

三人のハーモニーの美しさが光る。

THE ALFEEは今年（2004年）結成30年を迎えますが、このＣＤは結成20年の時に発売されたシングルヒストリーシリーズの第１弾、再デビューの79年からブレイク前のターニングポイントの82年までに発表されたシングル曲（ビート・ボーイズは除く）を完全収録した物です。ＣＤの収録時間からすると翌年の「メリーアン」まで収録可能だったと思われますが、敢えてサウンドがフォークからロックへ軌道修正された82年までにしたのは正解だったと思います。シングル盤でたどるアルフィーの試行錯誤の歴史が窺えるＣＤとも言えると思います。
