「みんなのうた」の影響で、小学生の頃からヒロコさんの世界に
はまっていた私。
当時はよく、両親と夜にドライブをすることがありました。
外灯に照らされた小さな地方都市の夜道を走っていく車の中で、
このアルバムを聴いていました。
親は「小学生がどうしてこんな静かな音楽を聴くんだ」って笑ったけれど、

まだ自由な想像力を持っていた頃にこそ、彼女の音楽を素直に受け入れる
ことができ、そして十年以上の時が過ぎた今でも大事にし続けることが
できているような気がします。
夜の町の薄明かりの中で聴くのがとてもよく似合うこの一枚。
あの状況で聴きたくなっていたのは、偶然ではないのかもしれません。

今では『絵はがきの町』が、ヒロコさんの歌の中でも一番好きです。
行った事がないのに、何故か懐かしい異国の風景を運んできます。

小学生のころに聴いたアルバム。「ＳＯＲＡＭＩＭＩ」のイントロが
どことなく飛行機が飛び去る音のように感じ、宵闇に包まれる寂しげな、それでいて心地よい感覚に浸れます。
「夕焼けリンゴ」は、私が思春期に聞いたこともあってか、中学生のもどかしいまでの片思いといったことを想像しました。

どれもが心の奥深くまで届く曲であり、谷山作品でナンバー1です。

この中に「穀物の雨が降る」という歌が収録されています。これの歌詞を念頭に置いて、ニューヨークの世界貿易センタービル倒壊のニュース映像を見てご覧なさい。跡形もなく崩れ去ったあの光景を。もちろん、倒壊はこの発売より１５年も後であり、本来無関係です。でも、ニュースの映像を見た直後から私の中では、結びついて離れ

なくなってしまいました。それがなくても、元々インプレッシブな曲集でした。何か（決して明るくない未来か何か）を暗示するようで……。そして、今では、ある意味、予言的という形容も与えたいような気もしています。
