   監督フランソワ・トリュフォーの自伝的ともいえる映画。男子校に通う多感な少年アントワーヌは「女」に「悪戯」に「映画」に夢中。何かと目立つ彼は、常に大人の目の敵にされてしまう。頭ごなしに怒る大人たちはそんなアントワーヌを反抗期だというけれど…。
   虚構に満ちた大人の世界を痛烈に批判した青春映画。アントワーヌ演じるジャン・ピエール・レオの、人々の心を離さない天才的演技力は、大人の世界との落差に悩む少年の心を見事に表現している。
   監督はこの作品を皮切りに、その後20年にわたってアントワーヌを主人公にしたシリーズを撮り続けた。トリュフォーは26歳のとき、この作品で監督デビューし、ヌーベルバーグの旗手として脚光を浴びた。59年カンヌ映画祭監督賞受賞。モノクロ。（齋藤リエ）

可愛くて切ない音楽がいつまでも耳に残る。

トリュフォーの自伝的作品で、リアルな少年の描写が胸を打つ。
大人との判りあえない心、通じない思い。

誰しも覚えがあるだろう感情が猛烈に甦ってくる。

でも、判りあえないのは大人だけじゃない、
って事をいつしか知るんだよね。

　初々しいというか無垢というか切ないというか残酷というか。トリュフォーの長編第一作で、自身の子供時代が反映しているという。４００発の殴打というのが原題。音楽がとても印象的で後を引く。狡猾なまでの抒情性を湛えた映像。

ラストシーンのストップモーションが、この作品のすべてを物語っている。
主人公の現在、過去、そして未来も。
言葉もない、静かな映像ながら、衝撃的でさえある。
心に焼き付いて、歳月を隔てた今も忘れられない。
