   時は平安時代、武士の武弘（金城武）に嫁ぐことになった真砂（天海祐希）は、ふたりで都に上る途中の森の中、彼女に魅せられた多襄丸（豊川悦司）に襲われ、武弘が殺された。その後、検非違使の調査では、囚われた多襄丸と真砂の証言が食い違い、さらには目撃者の子どもの証言もまたそれらと異なり……。
   黒澤明監督の名作『羅生門』の原作で、その後も国の内外で幾度も映画化されてきた芥川龍之介の小説『藪の中』を、NHKディレクター出身の三枝健起監督が演出。屋久島ロケによる大自然の神秘な魅力を醸し出しながら（撮影監督・篠田昇のキャメラが秀逸）、人間の業を描出しようと努めている。（的田也寸志）

原作、芥川龍之介の「藪の中」といえば、三人の証言が異なり、結局真相は誰にも分からないままなのだが、ＭＩＳＴＹはオリジナルの結末がかかれており、あの時三人に何が起こっていたのか悲劇の一部始終がかかれている。
また、原作にはない部分で真砂の幼女期の出来事にも注目してほしい。この事実があってこそ、さらに衝撃的だ。

武弘、真砂、多襄丸に共通する事と言えば、各々の罪深さである気がする。

それにしても人間の欲や、見栄や、自分を守るために必死に自分を正当化する人間の醜い部分を、考えさせられる作品なので深い。
全体的に台詞が少ないので、表情がいい味だしている。

時代物の作品には”立ち居振る舞い”と衣装が見栄えすることが大事とかカタいことを言っていると、MISTYの面白さは解らないでしょう。
世界の巨匠Ｋ氏作品とよく引き合いに出されるようですが、原作が同じというだけで、テーマも内容も解釈も別物です。

欲を言えば、アニキ（ここでは金城クンのことではなく、祐希サンです。）の脱ぎっぷりが豊悦サンに比べてイマイチなことですか。

女が全く解っていないボンボンで（結婚を反対されたら父を殺すとまで言いながら）、太刀を帯び弓矢を手にしながら不安げな若武者の風情。生い立ちに謎を残し、透き通るような貌に時折凄味をのぞかせるその妻。ふたりに絡む稚気を含んだ野性の権化のような男。彼らに覆い被さる圧倒的な自然。息遣い、草木の匂い、瀧や或いは川の流れる音。

”無音”これがタケちゃんに冠せられたコピーですが、（本人がどう思っていたかは別にして）監督は彼のセリフよりもその眼に語らせたかったようですね。ホント、良い眼してますもん。登場人物の衣装の色もじっくり見て欲しいものの内のひとつです。

武弘（原作では”金沢の武弘”）という名前に「漢字２つまで本人と同じじゃん！」と変なウケ方をしたのはワタシだけ…？

すべてが幻想のような世界。何が本当で何が嘘なのか？一度観ただけでは、理解に苦しむかもしれません。３人の行動の本音は？理由は？状況説明などはなく自分で感じとっていく世界です。豊悦の体当たりの演技にひかれます。天海祐希は魔性の女？金城武ファンにはちょっと物足りないかも・・・
