不思議な物語を疑問に思わず、全てを受入れてみて下さい。
夢のような恋の物語。
私も中年になって、恋をしてみると、失うことの大きさを思います。
この映画には様々な仕掛けがあり、ある意味とても難しいプロットかも知れません。
でもただ一つ。
夢のような恋を手に入れることの素晴らしさ。
その素晴らしさを、失った時の喪失感をはかりにかけて、それでもなお、人を恋せるか。
私は、やはりイエスと言いたい。
この喪失感。立っていられず思わず机に手を添え、身体を支える、その喪失感。
それでも、人を恋する。夢のような時間を過ごす事の幸せ。

この映画は、私達の人生が、ある意味長く充実し、ある意味はかなくうたかたである。
そんな、思いをずっしり。しっくり。素敵な素敵な、夢のような物語として見させてくれます。
正直、佳作ながら、個々十数年の中でも思いに残る傑作の幻想的な恋の物語です。
映画好きには、絶対のおすすめ作品です。

　オースターの小説作品を幾つか読んだことがある人なら、この奇抜で現実味の無いフィクションの世界に違和感なく入れると思う。ストーリー自体は、美しく寂しいおとぎ話であり、女優は文句無しに美しく愛らしい。俳優達も僕の好きな俳優達で、それぞれ味が出ていて嬉しい限り。

　が、しかし。

　このお話を、文体や人称に凝りまくるオースターが小説で表現していたら、相当綺麗なメタ・フィクションになっていただろうと思うが、問題は映画技法に凝る余裕が無い素人監督のオースターが自分で監督してしまったことだと思う。映画の技法やシナリオの世界に詳しいことが決して良い映画監督になる条件ではないが、彼の小説の創作態度がそういうものを前提としているので、当初予定されていたヴェンダースがオースターとじっくり打合せをしながら撮っていたなら、どういう作品になっただろうと感じずにはいられない。特にラスト５分は、もっと料理できたんじゃないかなあと思うので、星を減点しました。（でも、ここ10年くらいのヴェンダースのテンションを考えると、彼が撮ったら余計失敗作になってた予感もするんだけどね。）

　なお、このシナリオは文庫化されており、本人が突然監督をやることになった顛末や、綱渡りの連続の映画製作の模様を、本人がインタビューで語っている。作品のストーリー展開やラストに納得いかなかった人は、そちらを副読本にしてもらっても良いだろう。

なんともこの映画では可憐なミラ・ソルヴィーノ。
たくましい女や、ソフトな役もこなすが、こんなに可憐なミラ・ソルヴィーノは
見たことがない。これは、ラブストーリーではあると思うが幻想的ともいえる
タッチでまとられている。
ミラ・ソルヴィーノファンには一見の価値ありと思う。
なんとも最後のシーンが印象的でミラの表情がいい。
