ゲイリーオールドマンが演じる主人公はマフィアに情報を売っている汚職刑事。
結婚しているにもかかわらず愛人を持ち、金と色におぼれている主人公がある日、
レナオリン演じる女マフィアを護送することから　
その女の“蜘蛛の糸”にからまっていく…

悪い事と知りながらズルズルと抜けられず、次第に良心の呵責が薄れていく人間の弱さ、

深みにハマった後、ようやくその事に気付き、必死になって逃れようともがく様子、
ラストの主人公の切なすぎる結末をゲイリーオールドマンが秀逸なる演技力で魅せます！

　ストーリーとしてはよくある「転落もの」で、先が読めるんだけど、それでも怖い作品です。全ての出演者の演技が素晴らしく、めちゃくちゃ迫力あります。10年前に観ただけだけど、今でも細かく思い出せるぐらいです。G.オールドマンの作品としても「レオン」と並んで双璧じゃないか？ジュリエット・ルイスやらトム・ウェイツまでばっちりはまってます。レナ・オリン半端じゃない悪女ぶりは夢に出てきそうなほど、すんげぇ怖い。

これはゲイリー・オールドマンfanにオススメしたい一本！なんたって悪女に振り回され堕落していく刑事の役がゲイリーなのだ。なんてハマリ役だろう。大悪党というより小悪党な主人公をゲイリーならではの演技力で熱演。またレナ・オリンが徹底した悪女ぶりで、見てて身震いするぐらい怖い！あの笑い声は夢にみるかも…。最後はあまりにも物悲しくて、ついつい無言になっちゃうかも…？
