30年代のカンサスシティーにあるジャズクラブで、若き日のレスターヤングやカウントベイシーたちが、夜な夜なジャムセッションを繰りひろげて、腕を磨いている様子が再現されています。もちろん実際のベイシーやホーキンスが出てくるのではなく、現代の大物ジャズミュージシャンたちが、伝説のミュージシャンたちに扮して演奏を繰り広げるというわけです。モダンなテクニックはひとまず横において、古き良き時代のサウンドに迫ろうとするジェームス･カーターやジリ･アレン、サイラス･チェスナットが面白いのです。最大の見物は、ジョシュア･レッドマン扮するレスターヤング、クレイグ･ハンディ演ずるコールマンホーキンスの火花散る大ブロー決戦！　画像も音質も素晴らしく、とにかく楽しいジャズムービーです。

いやいや、メチャクチャ楽しいＤＶＤです。1930年代のカンサスシティーの雰囲気や香りまで忠実にを再現したライブハウスで、若い頃のベン･ウェブスターだのカウント･ベーシーが、夜な夜なジャムセッションを繰り広げ腕を競い合う。それも美しい映像と素晴らしい音で楽しめるんですから...。ところが演じているのはジェームス･カーターやニコラス･ペイトン、サイラス･チェスナットといった、当代きってのジャズメンたち。日頃のモダンな演奏テクニックは横においておいて、目一杯30年代のジャズメンになりきってプレーしているところがまた面白いのです。最大の見モノ聴きモノは、ジョシュア･レッドマン扮するレスター･ヤングと、クレイグ･ハンディー演ずるコールマン･ホーキンスの喧嘩バトルです。火!の出るような　ブローイングの応報。これを見られるだけでもこのＤＶＤは価値があります。JAZZの楽しさの原点は、30年代のカンザスにあったんですね！あー、ホントに面白かった。もう一度見よっと！
