試聴してすぐ買いました。私はG線上のアリアが一番好きです。クラシックとは異なるやわらかさがとても心地よく仕上がっています。ちょうど数日後に池袋で店頭ライブがあって、彼らが大切そうに音を奏でる様子を見てすっかりファンになりました。

全編クラッシックの曲をジャズにアレンジしたものだが、予想以上に心地よい。ピアノが特に「ヨーロピアン」だ。オランダのミュージシャンだからか北欧の香りと哀愁に満ちている。流れるようなピアノを、控えめながらも小気味良いドラムとベースが引き立てている。ピアノではニューオーリンズ風を聴くことが多かった私には新しい発見だった。
個々の曲では「G線上のアリア」がやはり美しい。スウィートボックスがラップに乗せてヒットさせた同じ曲とはすぐにわからない。そこがまた面白い。
個人的には「花のワルツ」と「アルビノー二のアダージョ」が好み。特に後者はララ・ファビアンが「アダージョ」として英語、イタリア語、スペイン語バージョンで歌っている。本作のアレンジとはかなり違うがどちらも魅力的。クラッシックはどうアレンジしても旋律が美しいからだろう。
天気のよい休日、朝食を食べながら聴くとゆったりとした気分になれる。

バックグラウンドミュージックとして聴くには最適だと思います。逆に言うとジックリを耳を傾けて聴くような音楽ではないということです。私は通勤の最中に、電車の中でミュージックプレイヤーでヨーロピアン・ジャズ・トリオを聴いています。家でも家族が、バックグラウンドミュージックとして、昼間からよく鳴らしています。はやっているからなのか、分かりませんが、近頃大量にこのトリオから新しいCDが発売されるのですが、粗製乱造とは言わないまでも、多すぎるのではと感じてはいますが。
