もうこの辺のサントラを買う人がいなくなってきたのかな。バート・バカラックは多くの音楽家に影響を与えた作曲家。日本でも筒美京平や細野晴臣も彼の創作性にはまった人たち。皆さんは「雨にぬれても」を知っているから(または持っているから)もういいやとお思いかも知れないが、このアルバムはもっと深く豊かです。１曲目の「サンダンス・キッド」からさっくりはめられてしまいます。映画を観た人もそうでない人もイメージ・トラベリングの始まり始まり。「捨てた家」の望郷感、「自由への道」(原題South American Getawayの方が雰囲気を伝えている)の刹那(せつな)感など、確かにメロディだけで言えば５曲だがアレンジの楽しさ、美しさにアルバム１枚に聞き惚れてしまう。一生モンのアルバムです。
