’70年代に青春時代を過した人たちにとってカーペンターズの曲の数々は永遠に忘れることのない想い出としてそれぞれの心の中に残っていることだろう。健全なアメリカ,あこがれのアメリカを僕たちに伝えてくれたのがリチャード,カレン兄妹のカーペンターズだった。が,32歳という若さでカレンは他界してしまった。その2年後の’85年,自分たちの築いたものを最良のかたちで残しておきたいというリチャード自身の選曲,編集のベスト・アルバムが『イエスタデイ・ワンス・モア』。まさに絶頂期を迎えた’74年,3度目の来日公演の貴重なライヴが『ライヴ・イン・ジャパン』である。

小さい頃、両親が聴いていた。
それからいつの間にか好きになっていた。リアル・タイムでは、見ることが
出来なかったが、いつまでも色褪せない透明感のある歌声は今も変わらずに
ここに存在している。
ＣＤでしか聴くことが出来ないけど、何世代にもわたって聴かれ続けるだろう
この素晴らしい歌声を。

5.0 out of 5 stars 「スーパースター」と「愛は夢の中に」が秀逸, 2008/10/13
初期のベスト盤としては、リミックスされた曲は入っていますが、その後発売されているものほどは過度な処理がされていないので、聞きやすいです。特に「愛は夢の中に」はシングルバージョンで、トニーペルーソのエレキギターが入っていますが、カレンのボーカルが最近のバージョンと違い、変なエコーが入っておらず、カレン本来の声が聞けてとても感動的です。「スーパースター」はドラムの音が従来のものと、だいぶ違う入り方になっています。しかしカレンの本来のボーカル を堪能したいのであれば「シングルス〜1973」がベストだと思います。音処理をして今風のサウンドのバージョンも良いのですが、歌としての感動や鳥肌がたつほどの情感を味わうためには、カレンのボーカルと二人の多重録音の美しいハーモニーを十分に生かしたオリジナル盤がお薦めです。それこそが本来のカーペンターズサウンドだと思います。

このＣＤはみんなの知ってる曲ばかり入っていて聴きやすいです。
特に２枚目のＣＤがおすすめです☆
