リッカルド・シャイー指揮、クリーブランド管弦楽団の演奏です。
ストラヴィンスキーの「春の祭典」は、変拍子が続きますので、下手な指揮者ですと空中分解してしまいます。現代音楽に強いシャイーですから、とても明確で分かりやすい音楽になっています。
シャイーによる20世紀の作品の演奏は、常に革新性を持ち続けているそうで、これも十八番のひとつだと感じました。

特にメリハリの効いた金管の響きは気に入りました。ハッとするような明確な音楽でないと分かりにくくなりますので。

ちょうど絵画で言えば、ピカソの絵のような印象を持っています。原色の色使いと大胆なデフォルメ、そして明確なモティーフ。その色彩感覚をそのまま音楽に置き換えた感じです。バレエ音楽ですから、その躍動感や舞台芸術特有のきらびやかさは最初から備わっています。

大胆さと繊細さが兼ね備わったような演奏でした。

ストラヴィンスキーを振らせたら世界一！シャイーの「春の祭典」です。これを聴かなければ何も始まりません！指揮者の偉大さとオーケストラのダイナミックさが混じりあって、すさまじい迫力を持ち合わせています。「４つのノルウェーの情緒」では、民謡のような、とっても落ち着いた気分になれる曲に仕上がっています。この２曲の組み合わせは大変おもしろい。

　ここまでシャープな音と、大地を揺るがすかのごとき迫力を兼ね備えた演奏は聴いたことがない。これを聴いて満足しない人がいたとしたら、その人はもうＣＤで「春の祭典」など聴かないほうがいい。この低音の響き、すばらしい！
