「ロメオとジュリエット」の影に隠れて目立たないが、「シンデレラ」も楽しめる作品である。しかし全曲盤となると、このアシュケナージ盤以外では、他にロジェストヴェンスキー盤のみである。両盤を比較すると、録音、オケの技術、叙情的表現など、多くの点で時代的に新しいこのアシュケナージ盤が優れていると思われる。特に面白いのは１２時のシーン。この独特の表現法はモダニズムでもポストでも古典でもない。ただ、それがプロコフィエフと知るのみである。ちなみに映画「アナスタシア」ではこの曲集から「Cinderella's Departure」が使用されている。渋い選曲だ。
